...that we as a nation, black white & yellow, can embrace a video game starring a black character.
Although our Carl Johnson is not exactly a clean-cut, law abiding, good dead doing motherfucker, this is definitely the first time a black character has been created by a white company with such widespread success without any kind of implied inferiority or a negatively caracatured (sic) "black culture" parody. Imagine the positive outlook that people from the 50s would have had, had they been privy to the POSSIBILTY of something like this. The greatest selling video game of all time lets you customize your character to almost infinite ends as long as he retains his black heritage, and I can connect with him without feeling the need in any way to wait for the PC version so I can make a white skinned protagonist.
If only Rockstar would create GTA: Village Beach, maybe we could have an openly gay charcter and it would open up the doors to a more accepting generation in the coming years...
