Let me put my last post more into context. Canada has many Atheltes, yes. Some are good yes, but well, look at the list below and make your own opinions:
**Cycling**
Jeanson: JUst got fired from her sponser team (Rona); hasn't won a race in ages; is accused of
doping up; lied publicly to the public and media; kicked off the Canadian Olympic team
Bessette: Voted cutest cyclist in the world (uhhh okay); got into many arguments w/ Jeanson;
Jeanson used to kick her butt in races, until Jeanson got into trouble; FELL in the
olympic race killing any chance Canada had for a medal; her sponser cancelled their
contact w/ all the racers (Saturn)--now she is w/ Quark racing--exactly!!
Katy St-Laurent: Never heard of her? My point exactly (http://www.geocities.com/katystlaurent/)
Hasn't won a race in ages....uhhh never mind, she almost never FINISHES a race!!
Emilie Roy: http://www.geocities.com/emilieroy_ca/4/acc.html She got into a CAR accident
w/ her bike during a RACE!!!---No further comments--Never finished a race in
years either
**Diving**
Emilie Heymans: Got crushed in Athens....won ONE bronze medal. Her dives were full of errors.
Finished most of her competitions below any mention by the media.
Hartley: Better then Heymans, but still only got a bronze (would have been better, but
she was matched w/ Heymans)
**Beach Volleyball**
Dumont and Martin: They were EMBARRASED by Walsh and May of the USA. The US controlled the
Canadians all match long...played with their prey so to speak.
**Tennis**
Marie-Eve Pelletier: Hmmm, can we say *waste of time*?? Couldn't win a match against an
American if she was leading 1 set.
Some argue that the Canadian athelets need more funding. Come on guys, we need talent too. I am sure all these girls are great people, but I mean, give it up, they just aren't good enough for international play.
All these girls played against Americans, and well they were blown away with such ease.....think its time to give up???

Blah blah blah. Couldn't even be bothered to read the entire post because it was boring. I'm not going to go off on a rant, but did it ever occur to you that who gives a shit about the state of the Canadians and sports. Yeah sure I was disappointed at how many medals we won, but in the end Canada is fucking wicked. Why don't you explore this little planet of ours and then say stupid ass shit like "Canada sucks." You based your entire feeling of Canada on our divers, cyclists, tennis players, and beach volleyball players? I dont know how that works but at least our country's leader can speak more than 250 words.

I'm a big advocate of Olympic sports, and I agree that they choked under pressure, but that's what terrible training facilities and below average local competition will do to you. When you get in the big leagues, you gotta be prepared, and our current atheletic situation isn't helping one bit.
I understand what your saying, but unfortunately, basing the whole "Canada Sucks" thing on select few atheletes in not smart at all.

Fair enough, Canada don't suck because of a few atheltes....
But again, Heymans and Plante didn't lose because they choked. They lost because they were not very good.
sherraine mackay lost in fencing. She had good training. She lost because she was not good. Wasn't she the one who threw her mask on the ground then that Cuban fencer kicked her butt? I mean come on, be professional about it.
We have to stop giving excuses for them. They are not good, thats it, thats all.
What about Jenason??? She was great, but her attitude caused her to lose everything.
St-Laurent and Roy, they get training in teams that have non-canadian racers in them, they are the only ones that can't finish a race, we have to stop finding excuses.

Yup your right, BUT Bessette, Dumond, amalie plante, and emilie heymans were supposed to easily win medals.
Did you see Heymans dive??????? wtf, I could have done better then her (well maybe not, but still you get the point).
amalie plante????She was in Gymnastics, dude, I am surprised that she knew how to get on the stage. She was completely overtaken by the competition.
Both Plante and Heymans were embarrassing. I meanI Know we are a Winter country, but these girls were not very good out there...admit it!!

The fact of the matter is, Canada isn't a summer sport country. Sure, we have more Summer Olympic medals than winter olympic medals, but summer has been arousn longer.
Many of our Athletes also went to Athens not expecting to do shit, and ended up with better than expected finishes, so our program hasn't entirely gone down the tube. We do need more funding for our athletes, but as you said, that's not the only reason we are sucking.
Winter is Canada.

All that angers me is that the girls I mentioned all act like they are the greatest. Next to the states they really suck.
On a personal level, personally have known people who have really done dumb things. This one girl even got herself killed cause of something she did--Now that is to embarrassing to even repeat.
