I've begun my preparations for Jeff. I bought a small cabin in the middle of nowhere; I haven't spent much of my million so it didn't hurt that much to pay cash. This cabin is well away from the main road and the nearest neighbor is almost a mile and a half away. There's a storm cellar underneath the cabin that will suit my purposes just fine, it's underground, large enough to work in, and can be easily secured. I spent the next few days there outfitting the cellar for my final act of vengeance. I found it incredibly peaceful up there and when I wasn't working toward my end goal enjoyed the chance to walk through the mature forest surrounding the cabin. I've been a busy guy the last few weeks so I also appreciated the chance to take a break and really get some solid rest. Soon I would be paying Jeff a visit and we'd travel out here together, though I don't think he'll enjoy the trip as much as I will. In the meantime I have a few more visits to make, the next few crewmembers were really bit players in the grand scheme of things but they played a part in our destruction and so they will play a part now.

Merle was a production assistant who helped coordinate challenges on the island; I have him scheduled as my next target. I begin by watching him for a couple of days. You know those cop shows where they're doing stakeouts? It's not nearly as entertaining or exciting as they make it out to be. I follow Merle from home to work, on his way there he stops for a latte, then I wait. I wait until lunchtime when I see him walk three blocks to a pizza joint that Ron's secretary says he eats at every day. Then he walks back stopping briefly at a newsstand to grab a paper, before returning to his office. Then I wait some more, I tell you there's nothing more tedious than doing nothing sometimes. When he leaves work he walks to a bar a few blocks down where he proceeds to have several drinks. At least now I know that when I take him from the world I'll be doing society a favor, one less drunk driver on the roads. He leaves the bar after drinking for five hours and heads for home. I only watch him for two days, he's on a rather simple schedule and the boredom is killing me, besides I have others to attend to.

The following night I park right next to his car and begin walking to the bar. He'll be leaving soon and I hope to not have to wait too long for him. As I near the bar I slide into a nearby alleyway, don a ski mask, and begin the wait. I've chosen a mugging for Merle's death, quick and easy as long as some nimrod citizen doesn't interfere. I finally see him exit the bar and begin to feel the anticipation of being able to mark one more off my list but he loiters near the door and when he leaves he's got some skank on his arm. Apparently Merle had been able to get this less than savory looking woman drunk enough to take her home. I had really hoped to be able to finish with him tonight but I'd really rather not have witnesses if possible so I just watch as Merle and his date stumble down the street back toward his car. Unexpectedly they too walk into the alley where I'm now hiding. I stand stock still watching as the two of them get right down to business and it doesn't take long to realize that not only has he gotten this woman drunk but he's paying to play. Perfect!

Just as the grunting ceases and they finish their business I step out from behind the trashcan and tell the hooker to split. She notes the gun in my hand promptly does just that, smart girl. When I feel that the sound of her footsteps is far enough away I pull the mask up so Merle can see my face and then I shoot him several times. I really don't want to do the next part but keeping up appearances is important so I reach into the pair of pants pooled around the ankles of their now dead owner and take out his wallet. I take all the credit cards and cash out and casually toss the rest aside and then take my leave of him. I go out the other end of the alley not wanting to re-encounter the hooker or any help she might have raised. I didn't think she'd tell anyone, she'd received her payment and had no connection to Merle but you never knew when a person might have a change of heart and decide to try to help someone. I walked back to my car taking my time and making sure no one was following me or really watching me and when I'm satisfied that I haven't given myself away I hop in my car and head back to the cabin.

The next day I read the paper thoroughly only finding a brief blurb about his death in the police blotter. They listed the murder as a mugging and were looking for the hooker he'd been seen leaving the bar with. Well, that was fine, if they found her all she could tell them was a mugger threatened her with a gun and she ran away. She might have heard the gunshots but it didn't really matter, this was just fine. Today's a new day and it's time to start watching my next target, Rita, she was the casting manager for the show, she knew what was planned for the show and never said anything to anyone. It's her fault we didn't know we were playing for our lives so now she was going to play for hers.

A rather low-key episode, but I believe that will make the coming parts more exciting...

Lovely. Any man that's willing to have sex in an alley deserves to die in an alley.
