yeah, it's old news in a way, but it's still an issue and still being brought up constantly. i am not gay myself. i know people that are gay (doesn't everyone) and try to understand them as much as i can, but i do NOT support gay marriages. that's messed up and it's really just a way for them to get tax benefits or write offs or whatever. they don't want to have the name of "different or odd" attached to them, but they do want to be recognized for being different politically. makes no sense to me. i lived with my ex for years and i couldn't be on the exes insurance policy or anything else and visa versa because we weren't legally married, so why should a gay person have more rights than a heterosexual? just because you're fucking somebody same sex or not or playing house with somebody doesn't mean you have more rights than the next person. gay shouldn't be considered a handicap - it's a lifestyle and choice as far as i'm concerned and yeah, maybe they're born that way, but i was born heterosexual and i don't expect anything special because of it. i know what it's like to be the "minority" and whatever. get over it already. if you're gay and can't handle being different, seek counselling. otherwise, just accept you're gay and two gay people getting married is not the norm. get married if it makes you feel better, but don't expect the rest of us to pay for it. i don't expect anybody to pay for any of my shit.

apparently i offended quite of few of you with my "opinion". it is an issue and people do have to accept it whether they want to or not. i still want to know why a gay person gets more rights than a heterosexual or even "equal" rights just because they're gay. gay people have every right to be married and be accepted in society and i'm not knocking people because they're gay. i just want to know why it's such a frickin' issue to begin with. like i said before, if you want to get married, get married. no big deal. i don't expect the world to stop and everyone to "recognize" it if i choose to get married and i do understand gay people want to have the same recognition any couple would get as far as the government or whoever is concerned, but shit, two people of the same sex getting married is kinda hard to accept cuz' it's just not normal no matter how you look at it. society has accepted the whole gay thing, that's not an issue anymore. why do gay people keep screaming and hollering about being recognized for being gay? for those of you who don't have a clue and think it's just a matter of acceptance, get over it. if it was strictly that and not for tax benefits or whatever, they wouldn't be yelling so loudly about it.

"just accept you're gay and two gay people getting married is not the norm"
ZULG! Do you understand that they are trying to change that? That is the purpose of the movement. They want it to be considered normal.
And I think that a lot of this has to do with tolerance of different lifestyles by our society rather than tax-breaks.
But, you know you're wrong, because look how many negative replies you got.

I want to make it clear that my opinion on the topic of an article in no way affects what rank I give it. But, this was badly written and not an even slightly compelling argument.

Next time you try to express conservative values, do it in such a way that it doesn't make us look like asshats.

You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that anyone actually gives two shakes of a dead dog's cock what you think.

"get married if it makes you feel better, but don't expect the rest of us to pay for it."
This is the crux of your argument? That gay and lesbian couples shouldn't be entitled to the same tax benefits as straight couples?
What fucking difference does it make? I'll break it down for you into very simple sentences:
I can only be married to one person at a time.
If I marry a man, I am entitled to tax benefits, health care, etc.
If I marry a woman, I am entitled to EXACTLY the same things.
It makes no difference to you, as a taxpayer, whether I am married to a man or a woman.
You're going to need to use other arguments, because that one is ludicrous.

I'm hoping that this topic has been so overdone that nobody's going to get riled up. As for me, I just thought it wasn't particularly well-expressed.

Why shouldn't they get those tax benefits?

" lived with my ex for years and i couldn't be on the exes insurance policy or anything else and visa versa because we weren't legally married"
The idea is that you do get legally married then you get on their insurance policy, they would have to get legally married just like the rest of us, they should be treated the exact same as Hetros marrying.

If you're going to post about a shitty and boring topic, at least put the effort into adding some punctuation and paragraphs.

Simple new rule:
Marriage is between you and your God. Keep the government out of the LTR biz. No legal marriage. period. It's a quaint relict left by the puritanical founders.
Ends all this gay marriage shit. and hopefully ends the heterosexual marriage shit, too.
