Hello friends,
It seems our universe has slowed it's expansion, and will soon begin to compact in on itself again. We watched from afar as you humans raped and pillaged your planet, seemingly unaware of the consequences. It is only now, as we watch our fate be sealed that we understand your reasoning.
At first, we thought you were unaware of the cyclical nature of the universe, that you didn't know that this doesn't matter, that none of it matters in fact. We've contemplated many times contacting you, and telling you that it will all be erased once the universe grows dense again, and then there will be another great explosion, and everything will evolve again just as it has so many times before.
But now, as we sit and wait for the end of ourselves, then the end of the next generation, and the next, then the eventual end of matter and re-creation of everything, we understand. In your apathetic ways, you have managed to make the best of this perpetual doom. You have found "fun" and even "love". These words, we have heard them, and seen you experience them, but they are meaningless to us for we have never experienced them ourselves.
We use to consider ourselves superior to you, used to think you were less evolved, and hadn't reached the point of understanding yet. Ha ha (as you humans would laugh [laughter is unknown to us]), how wrong we were.
When we first discovered your true intentions, we were outraged. We wondered why you didn't share your insight with us. But now that we have evolved to where you are, we understand. We understand that this journey is one that each species has to make alone. We were meant to figure this out for ourselves. But now, how long do we have to enjoy ourselves before the end? It doesn't really matter, we have now learned to live this life like it's our last, but look forward to the next.
We can't help but wonder, dear humans, how many times has this happened before? How many times have we watched with dull, lifeless eyes as you lived it up? How many times has our realization come, but too late? Or is it different with every new expansion? Do we choose a different path each time, or is the path laid out before us, and we just walk it? It's impossible to know, but impossible not to wonder also.
And so we say farewell earthlings, see you next time.

I'm sorry, yes there's only so long in the universe, but it's a little bit longer than the planet looks like it's going to last at this rate. So while I want to have a lot of fun, I also want to be able to breathe when I'm old.
And that's my green rant for the year.
