Idiots. You. Me. Everyone. But especially the blow-hards talking outside this very room. They're talking politics. Specifically, amazingly, about the election. Even back to the Democratic primaries, and how "the only candidate worse than Kerry in that lot was... Howard Dean!"
It sounds like repubs are still a little uneasy about Dean. Give him a break already. Just because he shaped politics for years to come doesn't mean you still have to bash the guy?
And then Fox News comes up: "Their viewership is trouncing all the other stations. It's becoming harder and harder for people discount their credibility as a news organization."
How do you respond to this?
Do you know what would get even higher ratings than Fox News? Porn. That Fox gets higher ratings says nothing of its journalistic integrity or quality. It speaks mostly about its business savvy and the limited attention span of the average American.
"But porn's not news!11" (gotta love the !!11's)
Fine, if you're not too keen on analogy, read up on a recent CNN piece(http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/11/17/nude.newswoman.ap/index.html) that tells of record ratings for a news organization that reported its story in the buff.
On the Iraq War: "What the liberal secularists in this country don't get is the seriousness of the threat over there."
Just... stop.
What these right-wing white-trash trailer-hick yokels don't get is (oh god..):
1. Iraq was not a threat to our national security.
2. Al Quada was and is, and had very little connection with Iraq (yes it's been said a million times and WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE IN MY LIVING ROOM).
3. The war on terror cannot be won using brute force but by using international collaberation and intelligence. MAKING THE ENTIRE WORLD HATE US is not how to make us safer, especially with respect to the terror war.
And what's wrong with secularism in government? Isn't that one of our most basic principles? Go the fuck back to Alabama.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Now why doesn't anyone bring this up more often? I mean, Al Quaeda(sp?) and Iraq hate eachother.

Life? Hell, it's pretty much like a knife fight in a dirt-floor bar: If they get you down, you best get back up.
It certainly is Turkey Day.
