Note: This is an essay I wrote for an English class, and my main source for information was www.theboywhocriediraq.com. If you've not been there, I suggest you go.
Unfortunately, today's World can see a high prevalence of Mass Hysteria in the USA. President George W. Bush's Advisors, as he himself doesn't meet the intellectual requirements to concoct a scheme of such nefarious proportions, have excellently woven fear and panic into the social fabric that is American society. The American government is inducing mass hysteria into the people in an attempt to pull the wool over the peoples' eyes long enough to validate the removal of a non-existent enemy to public safety to benefit the war-driven American economy and to satisfy the unquenchable thirst America has for oil.
After the occurrences of September 11th, the American Government had, in essence, full legitimacy to declare war on a Nation in retaliation for the deaths of thousands of their own citizens. The Nation that fell under the Government's crosshairs was Afghanistan, where the Islamic extremist organisation Al-Qaeda is known to operate from. Unfortunately, Afghanistan didn't provide enough room for America to flex its militaristic muscles, and effectively succeed in the capture of the White House's former business partner, Osama Bin Laden. The combat involved in Afghanistan was very limited, and America wasn't even really at war, so her economy was only partially stimulated. American forces search to this day for Osama Bin Laden, though he's proved to be quite the difficult target for American troops. It's somewhat ironic that Osama spent the money given to him by the CIA, George Bush Sr. being the former Director of, to train for and plan the murder of thousands of Americans. One could bet that Bush didn't see that coming...
Or perhaps Bush did see said actions coming, and his previously mentioned scheme of unrivalled nefarious proportions goes deeper than most would think. Perhaps Bush wanted to see planes crash through the two towers, providing legitimacy for war, and an opportunity to show that the new President has a strong conviction and defined morals and values. Bush would be shown taking strong steps to protect his own nation, and such a man would be perfect for the Presidency of the "best" nation known to exist.
After spending time in Afghanistan, searching out the evil Taliban, and bombarding the masses with fear inducing propaganda, the people/masses/mindless sheep were at the point of being scared into acceptance of "Operation: Iraqi Freedom". It should sadden the heart of any person capable of independent thought to see the American masses swallow so easily the mainstream news' blatant biases and twisted truths. To date, civilian casualties of the Iraqi war, on the Iraqi side, are approximately twenty times greater than the civilian casualties experienced on the American side on September 11th.
The main reason there's so much fear in the US of A is due by and large to the media, which is so pumped full of American propaganda that it's prejudiced saturation is capable of convincing what one would imagine to be an intelligent people into accepting Bush's agenda of evil. Every evening American families gather before the electric teat that is the television to suckle its electric goodness and see images of Iraqi civilians praising Bush and America's valiant and necessary crusade through their country... Of course the average American doesn't know the United States and England formerly possessed a ¾ share of Iraq's oil production, which was taken away when Iraq nationalized its oil industries in 1972 and given to France and Russia. By installing a new, American-controlled Dictator in Mr. Hussein's place, in the aftermath of "liberating" the Iraqi people, the US and UK essentially gain control of the world's potentially biggest oil reserve, and can privatize it right into the bank accounts of their own oil companies. Perhaps this is why France and Russia in particular were so outspoken against "Operation: Iraqi Freedom?" There are 41 Senior White House officials who are former oil company executives, and still have significant stock holdings, or other financial ties therein. Also, National Security Advisor Condaleeza Rice is a former director of Chevron, and even has the honour of an oil tanker being named after her.
In 1998, Chevron CEO Kenneth Derr proclaimed, "Iraq poses huge reserves of oil and gas... reserves I'd love Chevron to have access to." And vice president Dick Cheney served as a chief executive of Halliburton before joining forces with the dark lo- err... President, and even still makes over a million dollars a year from them, and on top of that has significant stock holdings; his severance package alone was $30 million, and he's been using his own power to provoke war and negotiate deals in order to raise his own stock prices.
It's good to know the Leaders of the free world have the best interests of the people at heart, isn't it?

points for you, because I think that it goes deeper than the American public has been told. I do agree with the issue of the Afganistan/veer off to Iraq disaster. So many seem to side with Bush, but few can ever really back it up in simple terms. I just want to know why we decided that Iraq was more important than Afganistan. Iraq has been a problem for years, I agree. But if you take politics out of the equation, and look at the 'facts' (as they've been given to us). Osama Bin Laden took credit for the towers coming down. Afganistan harbored this man. We decide to go in and get him. We lose him, and decide that it's far more important to go after a nation that, while guilty of all sorts of evils, hasn't directly attacked the USA. Why?

By the way, I should say "its" controlling oil interests. But then, I'm not the one writing a paper, am I?

Okay, you wanted to know what's wrong with it. Here goes:
1) A totally biased source of information. No opinion piece based on information from such an obviously biased source could possibly be given a shred of credibility. It would be like justifying anti-Semitism with information from the Aryan Nations website.
2)Mass Hysteria - not capitalized. An English teacher worth her salt will dock you for this any day.
3)President George W. Bush's Advisors - "advisors" is not capitalized.
4) "he himself doesn't meet the intellectual requirements to concoct a scheme of such nefarious proportions" - you have neither proves such a "scheme" exists, nor do you have basis for the statement you made around it, i.e. the president's supposedly low intelligence. No foundation.
5) Nation - not capitalized.
6)Afghanistan didn't provide enough room for America to flex its militaristic muscles, and effectively succeed in the capture of the White House's former business partner, Osama Bin Laden" - Bin Laden is not in Afghanistan. He is in Pakistan.
7) joining forces with the dark lo- err... President - solipses are bad English. They are also totally meaningless when writing a paper and are a major grammatical mistake. Dock.
8) Every opinion in this paper is totally unsupported. There is no evidence to back any of it up, save innuendo and conspiracy theory. The suggestion that America and it's "controlling" oil interests waited 32 years to launch a war for oil is just plain ludicrous.
9) "he's been using his own power to provoke war and negotiate deals in order to raise his own stock prices" - a blatant falsehood. Dick Cheney has totally divested himself of any interest in Halliburton Corporation. His receipt of a pension from this company is not an issue - the pension is paid regardless of his political actions. Cheney very publicly dumped all of his Haliburton stock before taking office in 2000. This is a complete falsehood, like the rest of the paper.
If you got better than a D on this paper, I don't just weep for the future, I cry buckets.
