I wake from my nap and walk to my computer. It took me just twenty minutes to find what I was looking for, schematics for the chair in the basement. I'm somewhat surprised they're out there but then again I guess I shouldn't be, you can find just about anything on the net these days. I look over the drawings and read about how to hook it up to power, it looks like the chair I bought may actually work I just need to check it over and pull a power cable. I print the information and take it downstairs with me.
"Damn Jeff, you stink. You really ought to clean yourself up, it looks like that hole in your leg is infected." Jeff doesn't look so hot and he doesn't smell real good either. I find him lying on the floor where I left him. He either stayed there sleeping or hasn't gotten up the will to move to the more comfortable mattress, no concern of mine if he wants to lie on the floor. I walk over to the chair and notice Jeff hasn't eaten the latest meal I've provided. "Not hungry?" I begin inspecting the chair, comparing the information I printed with what's in front of me and see that all the required parts are intact. I find the power hookup right where it should be; "Jeff, I've got an errand to run, I'll be back shortly. Don't go anywhere."
I drive to town and pick up a roll of electrical wire, I return to the cabin and cook dinner for Jeff and myself. I carry both meals down and hand one to Jeff along with a can of beer. I sit in the chair and begin eating while Jeff stares at me. "You should eat Jeff, growing boys need their strength."
"Ben, please don't do this. You can't bring the others back; this won't help you get over the loss. Please don't do this."
"Get over it Jeff, you had your time as game master now I am the master of ceremonies, I had no choice under your rule just as you have no choice in the matter under mine."
I finish eating and take my plate upstairs. I walk back down with the roll of electrical wire and see Jeff eating. "Hey, good boy Jeff, good stuff isn't it?"
Jeff looks up and sees what I'm carrying; "Hey, what are you going to do with that? You can't, you can't, come on Ben, just let me go."
"Finish eating, your first challenge is in the morning and I think you should be rested and well fed before we begin so just quit with the whining." Jeff turns morosely to his meal, picking at it while I pull the electrical cord from the fuse box to the chair. I hook everything up according to the diagrams and then double check my work and that everything really is there. I check the wrist and ankle straps to ensure that they're still intact and not going to break when I use them and when I'm satisfied that all is well I bid Jeff a good night and head back upstairs. I spend the rest of the night watching TV and when my thoughts turn to Jeff I smile a bit, I can't help it. Now the chair is much more menacing then when I brought it in, it's got to be killing Jeff and he hasn't even touched it yet. I turn in for the night looking forward to tomorrow.
Forty-five
I can't believe this, Ben shot me and shot me again. I can't walk I tried while Ben was upstairs this morning. I just barely made it to my feet when the pain hit me. I double over and then unceremoniously fell to the floor. I noted that the first gunshot wound is infected, a terrible red line running in both directions out from the wound. I was able to stop the bleeding of both wounds but I can't tell if the bullets are still in my legs or if they passed through. The pain is excruciating, I probably shouldn't have tried to walk but how else can I expect to be able to escape if I can't move myself?
Ben came down to my prison and as soon as he saw me lying on the floor began giving me shit about my appearance and smell. I've noticed the stink, I feel as bad as I'm sure I look, I can't do anything about it. I've noticed the infection, a nasty red line running out from the wound in both directions. The whole area is swollen and is incredibly hot to the touch, but again, what can I do about it? I watch Ben comparing the chair to several pieces of paper and then he tells me he's got to go out again.
When Ben returns he comes down with two meals. Thankfully he hands me mine instead of putting it on that infernal chair but then he goes and sits in it telling me to eat. I try to reason with him again but it's like talking o a brick wall, after all what could I possibly give him in exchange for my life when all he wants is revenge. He tells me to get over it, like I can just get over the fact that I'm held prisoner, get over the fact that he's letting the wounds in my legs fester, get over the fact that I believe he intends to torture me before killing me. How is that possible? I'd kill myself now if I knew a way. I don't want to hang on indefinitely if I'm going to die a nasty death anyway. So I eat watching as Ben takes his dishes upstairs and then returns carrying electrical wire. He can't possibly mean to hook up that chair! I can't help but plead with him again, uselessly of course.
He tells me to finish eating and rest up for a challenge in the morning. A challenge? What the hell does he mean by that? This isn't the show, what's he going to do give me a chance to save myself? Right.
Ben connects the chair to the power box on the wall and then says goodnight. Goodnight? What an ass! As soon as Ben leaves I drag myself over to the chair and begin dismantling as much of it as I can. I try to do as much damage as possible but I'm weak so I don't know if it will be enough. I may only be forestalling the inevitable.

"a nasty red line running out from the wound in both directions"
This repetition Jarrs a little, but otherwise fine.

Man, I'm glad he started dismantling that thing. If he didn't I would have been upset with your writing because that would have just been stupid. Unless the guy wanted a short ticket to death he would have started to break it.

Heh, I'm not sure I would've thought of that if I were in Jeff's situation, but I'm glad someone did. I like the comparisons to Jeff's situation and Ben's when he was on the island. Jeff really is an ass for not realizing he deserves what's coming to him. This story makes me all tingly.
