"So Teeph, we should invade every country that violates a UN security resolution? You know Israel has. A buttload of countries have. We (USA) probably have. Maybe we should invade ourselves."
True that. Newsflash, every country has interests. And in NO WAY the french or any countries were FORCED to join this stupid war, SCANDAL OR NOT. Most of the countries who refused to join knew the WMD argument was total bullshit and guess what, turns out it was!
I guess only americans are entitled to use their UN veto for resolutions against Israel or those in favor of cuba. Maybe we should start an anti-US campaign just for that, right? The hell with old concepts like sovereinty! Let's invade each others like old times whenever we're not sastisfied!
Seriously, I'm not condoning the french on what they do wrong, but as I said, stop trying to justify your current fuckups by pointing your fingers left and right. It makes no sense and it makes you look like bullying idiots. Escecially when you point it at a declining power who barely means nothing on the world stage like France. Why don't you blame Iceland for the current economic woes while you're at it?
Oh and I don't like Moore either. I think he's an opportunist asshole. Unlike you, I don't need to side with someone to make up my own ideas.
Now go love Freedom.

The game is called Black Ball, or Balle Noir. Simple, really. Just like football, although there may never be a world cup for this. Right now the Pissoirs Paris are driving the 'ball' toward the Follies de Foutre goal line.

IamNot - the difference is, AT THE TIME we went into Iraq, EVERY respected intelligence source thought that Saddam either HAD or was trying to build WMDs. THAT was a critical component of the "war on terror."
We didn't trust Saddam to have them. We trust Isreal, maybe wrongly, but still . . .
We thought he was the kind of guy who would like to see a U.S. or European city get nuked, or gassed, etc. We weren't willing to let that happen.
And dammit. Now I have to go home.
Just when things were getting interesting too.

There are little issues like U.N. officials refusing to turn over documents that are hampering the investigation. What do they have to hide?
I'm not ignoring Halliburton accusations, in fact, Halliburton just got a HUGE contract taken away from it, if I'm not mistaken. That mess is being straightened out.
The U.N. one, well, that one is being covered up.
As to "why" we are doing this . . . I guess we just saw how much fun you guys were having, and wanted to try it out. Turns out you guys were right. It IS fun.

So Teeph, we should invade every country that violates a UN security resolution? You know Israel has. A buttload of countries have. We (USA) probably have. Maybe we should invade ourselves.
We have a war to fight. A REAL war with Al Quaeda. Check out the Falluja report (http://www.military.com/NewContent/0,13190,GH_Fallujah_112004-P1,00.html), not a lot of evidence of foreign fighters. If there were significant foriegn casualties we would here about it.
We're now at war with civilian Iraqis. Are they douchebags for hiding in mosques and blowing up innocents to further their cause? Yes. Do we have the military resources to start a war with every possee of douchebags in the world? No.
France, as well as the rest of the colonial powers, has been mucking about in Africa for ages. It's wrong. We should call them on it. But it doesn't justify what we do either way.
Iraq was strategically, a very poor decision (unless you want to start talking about peak oil, but that starts to get real scary, real quick). That, quite honestly, is more important than the touchy-feely social justice shit.

Except Foxnews, which is NOT a serious source, no media have confirm this to be true, yet. There is just accusations flying left and right. There are accusations about Haliburton too, how come you won't mention them? Funny that you people are quick to dismiss the spewed by Michael Moore and such but will quickly side with other bullshit if it fits you.

Firstly, our superb medias are FINALLY pointing to this scandal because they HAVE to. It has taken this long for "dolts" like myself and the author of this post to force them to acknowledge it. They would much prefer to focus on the bodycount in Iraq.
But I'm not terribly concerned about the bodycount. I understand that this is a war. In wars, people die.
What the Oil for Food scanal points out, is that the U.S. was right all along about going into Iraq for their violation of U.N. sanctions. The reason the U.N. wasn't behind that decision more, was because people like Jacques Chirac and Vladimir Putin were being BRIBED by Saddam Hussein. Simple as that.
See, the problem for you is, this attacks the very foundation your arguement is based on, the "unjust, unilateral, pre-emptive and unprovoked attack of Iraq by the U.S."

The US profited from the Oil for Food program too, you dolt. Since the casualties are rising in Iraq and it's nowhere near stable, your superb medias are pointing (for some weird reason) their fingers at the french. And it works! Look at you or the author of this post! Now could you guys tell me how do you manage to think this equation is right:
Old money scandal > Iraqi civilians and young US soldiers getting killed on a daily basis
While you want to go back in the past to justify the present's wrongs, why don't you mention that its america who sold the very same weapons Saddam used against his own people?
