So Barry Bonds is on steroids. Is anyone shocked? He isn't even the same man he was in Pittsburgh, he looks like a mutant. I dont think its normal to go through a growth spurt in you're late 30s, especially when its your skull thats growing. Where's the evidence you say? His trainer was busted for giving steroids to players. The year after he started "training" with the steroid kingpin his homeruns increased by 32%.
When Barry Bonds does hit his 756th home run MLB will HAVE to put an asterisk next to it, or its a slap in the face to 100 years of baseball history and the real athletes of a by gone era. Hank Aaron was a small framed man, he did not take performance enhancing drugs and played in a pitchers era when the parks were larger.
To see Barry Bonds name atop the most recognized and revered records in sports history would be sickening. And wouldnt baseball be in a catch 22 then?
Ban all steroids, run a clean league and have the home run record held by a user. Or open the flood gates to every Tom, Dick and Harry who can swing, pitch or run to point to Barry and say look, this is what i can achieve with drugs.
Major League Baseball can NOT allow Barry to hit that home run.

He's not the only one. The power numbers since 1998 have skyrocketed across the board to a level hitherto unseen. In that time, the record for single season homeruns, which stood for 37 years has not only been beaten, but SMASHED, not once, not twice, but no less than 6 TIMES by 3 different men!
It was my assumption for a while that the balls were juiced...but it turns out it has been the players. Being a life-long Cubs fan, it pains me to say that Sammy Sosa is probably one of them... If you look at this numbers prior to '98, not to mention his relatively diminutive stature, and then look at the subsequent 4 years in which he surpassed the old single season mark 3 TIMES by himself, with a 'little' 50-homer season thrown in there, then the suspicions become piqued.
I agree with the asterisk. The man has admitted to using steroids. It's that simple. It's against the rules. The asterisk is a no-brainer. That should go for ANYONE who is found to have used steroids. Mark McGwire is probably included in that too.

Head growth (as well as hands, feet, figners...etc) is a sign of HGH use. HGH, human growth hormone, is not technically a steroid. Is it a banned substance in baseball?
Androsteine is a steroid precursor, but was not a banned substance in baseball when McGwire was cranking homeruns.

Unfortunately, Baseball sucks. American passtime or not, let's get a real sport in the textbooks. Seriously, baseball is for non-athletes. There's a reason soccer, and not cricket, are huge throughout the rest of the world. just like there's a reason baseball isn't the numero uno sport in any country but ours...
P.S. I have a moral problem with steriod use in professional sport, but where else can baseball go? How can they make the game more interesting? What can they do to allow for more baseball heroes? In a sport as simple as Baseball, there isn't a lot of room to be good at different things. You catch, you throw, you hit, you sign endorsements... that's about it. You can't really bring other physical abilities to the game. In other words, baseball is running out of growing room. And, with people thirsty for heroes, I can understand that managers and trainers are being forced to bend the rules while creating baseball superstars.

Oh, I forgot to add that Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly said that every stupid stat should be marked with a subscript "ss" for stupid stat.
But in Bond's case, it'll stand for steroided stat.
He's ruining baseball. I've hated Bonds ever since he couldn't steal half as many bases as home runs he could hit.
