I hope everyone is preparing and saving for the upcoming Übersite Las Vegas debacle. Go ahead and scrimp on your parents' Christmas gifts. They will understand and be proud of the fact that their son or daughter needs to get plastered and gamble away large amounts of money in the company of strangers he or she met on the internet.
Again, the dates are March 11-13. I figured it would be nice if a portion of us could stay in close proximity so, taking into account your opinions as well as the Holy Word of Bart, I've set up a group package at the Flamingo - http://www.flamingolv.com
I have reserved 10 rooms at the rate of $176/night + 9% tax for March 11 and 12. That comes to $192/night. The rate on Expedia is $228/night + 9% tax ($249/night), so this is a fairly good deal. 10 rooms is the minimum so if we don't fill them up, we don't get the deal. I can ask for more rooms if they are available, but Las Vegas is filling up quickly for that weekend. There is a big NASCAR event or something so that means we will get to make fun of rednecked, boisterous, hicks or be one of them if that is your preference.
How the room process will work is once you have a room filled, give me the names of the people who will be staying in that room as I need to turn the rooming list into the hotel at least 45 days in advance. When you arrive at the hotel, give them your name and the group name and you will pay for the room at that time. If you want to stay an extra night, let me know when you are signing up for a room and I will see if I can get you a discounted rate.
In order to facilitate the flow of information (Don't you just love those trendy corporate phrases, and by love I mean hate) Bart has set up an email group. Click on the link below and set up your account. You'll get an email that you'll have to reply to and then Bart will confirm that you are to be added to the list. The only way that your email address will be able to be seen by others is if you send an email to the group. There is no way around that.

We will be using the list to make rooming arrangements and make other plans so please sign up. Remember, if we don't rent out all 10 rooms, we don't get the reduced rate, so let's make sure that we fill up the alottment.

When the lady at the hotel asked me what the group name should be I stumbled a bit. I decided to leave off the "site" portion of Ubersite, if only to make us seem somewhat less dorky. Of course that plan will be shattered as soon as we start to check in.

You can request 2 Queens, 2 Doubles or 1 King bed. The rates are for double occupancy. Each additional person adds $30 to the rate, if you tell them that more than two will be staying in the room. So just don't report the extra people.

Just to let people know, I'm planning on staying a day or two more - probably go in thursday and leave monday. I also have TONS of Marriott rewards points, so I may end up staying at the Marriott for free (which means that a few lucky Uberers could go in on this deal) but if by doing so, I screw up this Flamingo deal, then I'll just room up with y'all there.
Maybe this is better said in the email traffic?
