It's the beginning of the week again, blokes and bitches, and you know what that means... That's right, ETS, along with Skweetis, has spent another Sunday he could probably have spent in church washing away all the filth and and ugliness inside his sonful soul, but instead purged it into the song you are about to hear...
Lithium is this weeks' victim. It was going to be 'In Bloom', but we got distracted and for some reason started doing this one instead... horray for drugs! I suppose a short attention span can be a blessing at times. I say that, but really this too all night. We worked from 3:00PM to 1:00AM... At least I did. Skweetis had to go home around 8:00 because his woman deliberately put holes in his water heater! She was having a Yoko moment, and she thought that steaming hot water all over their new wood floors would surely break up ETS once and for all!
We'll show her though! :P
Just joking, Nicole...don't hit me!
Here is what we have so far. Download to your heart's content! Again, I will be sending finished products to whomever wants one when we're done for FREE, provided that you cover the shipping. I don't want to get sued...or do I!?!?!?! Hmmmm... It'd be sorta like in Rocky 5 where Rock punches the guy and says, "sue me for what?" I wouldn't do that to Frances.
Ok I am seriously rambling... Since I can't simplify 5/12 unless to say something silly like 2.5/6, then I'll just show you the link, how's that?

I love the picking at the start -- why didn't Nirvana think of that?

Ok, I can see this one flopped by comparison, which does not bode well since this was pretty much the last of the singles from the album besides 'In Bloom'.
Soley: you are fucking nuts! Need to stop smoking the herb! ...and that's herb with a SILENT H!

I feel i need to interject on some of these reviews.
1. We are remaking the entire style of these songs. We are not trying to make them better. We are not trying to recreate the same feel or emotion of the original. The fact they lose the emotion of the original is the point. I dont look at these as covers, but rather revists.
2. For those that want to "jam" with us, I believe ETS is going to start up that thread pretty soon.
other than that...Please keep listening...
oh...and bump

I liked it and i'm not a huge Nirvana fan. Maybe you should hit a musical group that made tougher songs to play with a little bit more instrumentation perhaps? Miles Davis? If anyone could re-create "Bitches Brew" I would be astounded.

no apologies (or all apologies HA!) necessary...again, it's just an interpretation thing.
and it's not that I disapprove...I just don't agree :)
+1 to bring my average rating to 0.5

this was still pretty decent ETS, but this +1 is just relative to Come As You Are and Smells like Teen Spirit which were both very awesome.

right on par...
I will say that this particular cover wasn't my favorite, but overall the quality of it is good. I can't put my finger on it, really. I think it was something in the emotion of how the song came off. I don't know for sure, but I DO know that I couldn't do any of this stuff, so keep on keepin' on.

No offense, but I feel like you've taken a song that has so much feeling/emotion/sordid energy and sucked the life out of it. It's like you took a dark song and tried to make it pretty and in doing so, the vitality of the song is lost.
In fact (and again...I mean no offense), I feel like you've done the same thing with all of these Nirvana covers.
I think my biggest problem is the fact that you've taken overwhelmingly minor-oriented tunes and given them major-oriented, simplified chord progressions. The only exception is "Something in the Way," which I think is my favorite out of the bunch.
I understand that these are your interpretations, and everyone can interpret these songs differently and make them "their own" in different ways...so, this is just my interpretation of your interpretation :)

Thanks for the +2...didn't sound like a +2 review. I respect your opinion, and if you want to hear originals, go to the directory instead...the bottom link. There are originals there.
My thing with originals is this: nobody wants to hear them unless they've had millions of dollars of marketing shoved down their throats telling them that it's the next new thing. Word of mouth can go so far...but on the whole, I haven't had any luck with originals on this site. I will post more originals when I fucking feel like it, and not until then.
I don't expect many of you to understand the vocal style on any of my stuff. in fact, I really don't give a fuck what any of you think about it. Generally I do what I want. That's the nice thing about not having a producer around trying to direct you to do things a certain way. I am tired of defending this series. I really am. I am grateful to those of you that enjoy it, and am sorry that some of you don't. I really wouldn't want it any other way! :)
Suffice it to say that I am doing it whether anyone gets it or not.

TheSpook, have you been living in a box for like 15 years? Maybe your not much of a music fan. They're the band that basically started the grunge movement and got everybody out of 80's hair metal.
Great guitar's, the songs are catchy. Vocals are dead! Hardly any range at all. Its kindof depressing because the singer has a great voice and a lot of potential. Thats my problem, I can create the guitar part, bass part, drum part, and sometimes piano or strings, but those vocals are so hard to do! Kindof sounds REM-ish in whole. I strongly suggest you stop remaking Nirvana songs, your going to piss off a lot of Nirvana fans. Something in the way and Lounge act sound... just not so good. You're kindof getting away from what Nirvana wanted in their songs, which changes the meanings up a lot. You guys should write your own songs, theyd be awesome. That's basically what you are doing with these: writing your own different music but putting in Nirvana's lyrics. I'm not into the idea of redoing Nirvana songs (when Papa Roach did Lithium I threw up) and the vocals need some work, but i think you guys can make some really good songs so +2.

sorta catchy cover - but altogether too repetitive, sung without passion, and it doesnt contain enough dynamic contrast.

Someone: There weren't any drugs harmed during the making of this song... I was speaking of all the damage already done.
--
Rad: The new chord changes are E - G# - A - E - B on the verses.
Same for the chorus pretty much...except the end of the chorus which is E - G# - C#m - A - B - A#/B
Then the "I don't want to crack" parts are A - C#m - B. This section goes to Am when heading back into the verse.

To Rad, Stin, lessthanfour, and the rest...the other thing I was talking about doing should be up by Wednesday. It should be fun...so don't give up on me!

Ive already jacked up the bandwidth on our site. Im hoping it doesn't cap off again. If it doesn, please be patient, I will add more bandwidth as needed. As of now, I'm trying to determine the optimum amount of bandwidth for a month.
Also, another one that I got left out of on the mix down and had to leave in the middle of recording the harmony...but ETS rocked it.
Musical Monday Madness will hopefully continue on for eternity.
Also, quick poll...who all listens to shoutcast streams in winamp. We are debating putting up a stream of our stuff and current inspirations.
blah!
