Again, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to follow the last installment as I mentioned there I started a new job and lost my writing time. I can't garauntee that I'll be real rapid with continuing this but I do plan to finish, SO CLOSE! Thanks again to all of you who've read all of this!

I wake up and look at the clock, 11:23! I can't believe I've slept so late! I get out of bed and decide to skip the shower for now, save it for after I'm done working with Jeff. I walk downstairs and make myself a sandwich, nothing too exciting a simple bologna sandwich. I sit in the living room eating my sandwich and vaguely hear Jeff crying my name. Funny! Now he wants my company, he'll wish he hadn't had the displeasure of my company later. I finish my sandwich, wash it down with a glass of milk from the refrigerator, and pick up another of the items I bought in preparation for Jeff's visit.
"Good morning Jeff, how's it going today?"
"Ben, you've got to get me to a hospital, look at my legs, they're infected, please you've got to help me."
"Actually I don't Jeff, besides you won't be needing those legs much longer any way so what's the point."
I look around and see the damage Jeff's done to the chair, ah well; I hadn't really planned on using it. I'm not ready for Jeff to die and I was also afraid that it would come with a huge mess or a fire, nasty irritations that I just don't care to deal with.
"That wasn't very nice of you to destroy the present I brought you Jeff, but I'm such a nice guy I've brought another."
"What the hell...? Is that a cattle prod? You are a seriously fucked up person and I have a hard time believing it's all because of the show."
"Believe what you want it doesn't matter, but to answer your question yes it is a cattle prod. I told you today you would have your first challenge and this will be a part of it."
"Ben, you seem to think this is all a game, you killed all my co-workers and made it like some kind of sport. You think the show was evil, that it went too far? Look at yourself! You're a cold-blooded killer now! We didn't do this to you! At least on the show you had a chance! Come on Ben!"
"Sorry Jeff, but I guess I'm wrong to say this is the first challenge since you've already failed a few, and yes you did this to me. You have had a chance, I could have killed you a long time but until recently your fate was still undecided. Now, it's time to start the challenge. I'm going to ask you some questions, you answer wrong you get the business end of my new toy. You answer right you get another question until I'm satisfied. Understand?"
"No, you can't do this!"
"Wrong answer!"
I had already set the prod to the lowest setting so I gave him a poke; I saw the discomfort on his face and pulled back.
"That didn't seem too bad, have to give it a little more. Now, once again, do you understand how this game will be played?"
"Fuck you!"
"Wrong again!" I hit him again this time noting that it actually looks like he's in pain this time and ask again. "Do you understand?"
"Yes... yes."
"Alright, now, I believe you had something to do with changing the show, explain to me why you did it."
"The show's ratings were down so I took a chance, the public was ready for a true reality show, I just gave it to them."
"You will have to elaborate a little more in order to qualify your answers as acceptable but I'll let this one slide. Who decided to not tell any of the applicants what was planned?"
"Bill, and some of the other executives."
Now, I bend over and sticking the end of the prod in one of the holes in Jeff's legs I give him another shock, and as I address the problem with his answer I turn the voltage up on the prod. "One, I warned you that you need to elaborate. Two, you're lying. I warn you Jeff, don't lie to me outright or by omission. I've talked to some of the executives at the company and I know that it was you and bill who pushed to not tell us. You were afraid you wouldn't get your cast and you were afraid you couldn't handle those you did get. Don't lie to me again."
"Question three of who knows how many: did you make arrangements for the bodies of the cast who didn't leave the island?"
"No Ben, the network.."
I wave the prod toward him and he backtracks.
"Ok, ok, I decided that we didn't need to spend the money, that we didn't need to spend the time, and that it was best to just leave them."
"You're a disgusting person Jeff. I can't believe you have the audacity to call me sick. Next question: what is your life worth?"
"What? How can I answer that? I'll give you anything you want! I've told you this! My life is invaluable to me and several other people. Anything!"
"You disappoint me Jeff, that is, sadly, the wrong answer. This concludes our challenge."
I take the cattle prod and shove it as deeply as I can into the hole in the other leg and hit the juice and then I watch him writhing in pain. His mouth is open in a horrible scream but no sound comes out. Finally I pull the prod out and walk away from him. "You're time is almost done, better figure out who you really are before you go to meet whoever waits for souls like yours.
I go upstairs and shower, standing beneath the falling hot water I reflect on my actions and am able to justify them by what was done to us, to the one woman I've ever loved, and by the fact that this was merely a continuation of what began on the island.

The dialogue seems a little strained, but I struggle with that too.
Looking forward to the ending.

As I read this, there are 455 hits but only 16 reviews. This makes me sad because this series is really worth reading through, every single part. Makes me wish I could write. All I can do is read, review, and get it on the MRR. Maybe someone else will read it and the cycle will continue and eventually this can get the praise it deserves.

glad to see you're back...this series is pretty excellent...although it seems the last couple have been slightly drawn out.
