Photos of the dead, it is sad but lets put the numbers in perspective shall we.
For one time in my life, I am glad I do not make much money,
But if I had money I would not be in Thailand, I would go to visit my family.
The " tourists" that were in those resorts were ultra wealthy.
Puket and Pepe Island is the playground for the wealthy.
And are generally not very nice people. I know, I work for them every day.
The others who died were lets face it were slaves, I've been to Bangkok while in the Navy.
In addition, if you are working for about a penny a day, dude you are a slave.
All around those Ultra five star resorts on all of the islands are shantytowns of slave labor.
So for every "Tourists" about ten or twenty slaves died.
Did you know? That in Indonesia 1000,000 people dies due to malaria each year.
And nobody wrings their hands or has a concert to help them
Do not get me wrong loss of life is very sad. I just do not feel that sorry for the "masters" and their slaves are better off. Because they will never be, free.
They never tell you on save the children add or care international add the child your helping lives a 100 yards from a five star hotel do they.
At least now, life will change for the survivors on those islands
And maybe some of the children might have a chance for a better life.

Tragedy is a great leveller. The families of the rich who died will be no less sad than the families of the natives.
To say that we will not give aid because some who died were somehow less "worthy" of our help I personally do not think is fair. And that aid money will also go towards rebuilding the homes and lives of those most affected - not the tourists, but the people whose livelihoods and homes have been destroyed.
