It's that time of year. Spring Break. There are pretty much two ways to handle spring break. Your first option is to get a group of friends together well in advance and plan out the entire trip. Make hotel or condo reservations. Figure out if you are flying or driving etc.
Your only other option is to pile into a car last minute and head "down south". Just go. Have no reservations. No idea where you are going to stay, etc. I'm sure several of you fellow ubers have stories in one or both of these catagories.
Last year, my friends and I choose option number two. We decided to go to Florida for a few days. Jumped into a car and went.
Fast forward to this year. Being as this is my last year of school, it is most likely my last year of "Spring Break". My friends and I planned everything out this year. We rented a condo in the Ft. Lauderdal - Miami area. We arranged transportation, etc. We saved a little extra money. Finished almost all of our tests! We are all getting ready to leave in a few days (thursday 3/13).
One of the reasons that we choose to go to Ft. Lauderdale was for the weather. It is supposed to be 85-90 the entire week! Water should be warm as hell.
Today, I logon only to find this news article.

My problem with CA beaches in general is that they are so freakin cold, almost the entire year. I prefer nice, warm water if I am going to be swimming in it.

You guys have obviously never been to San Diego Beach. It is, imo, the best in the US and I am a native Texan.
Peace,

Corpus Christi, South Padre, Port Aransas... its in the same area - within a few miles of each other. Definitely the best beaches, sun, water, etc. in the U.S. Really good fishing as well if you are into that.

crystal beach is nice, certainly nicer than Galveston which has been going to shit for many years now. South Padre can also be nice, but the prettiest girls, cleanest beaches & clearest sea water I ever saw ( your side of the pond, that is) was near corpus.

I love South Padre. Great beaches, not terribly expensive. If you go up the island a little, you can get away from everyone, just you and the ocean.

don't drink the water. Ft. Lauderdale sucks anyway - I'd go to Corpus Christi instead. Less assholes, more fun
