I don't listen to rap. I hate it, and never will listen to it on purpose. I have about 700 songs (just got it, still getting started) on my iPod and only one is rap. That was an accident because it was part of a Prodigy album that I put on their, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned". Since I go to a rich, predominately white high school, everyone who's anyone listens to rap. They also pretend to black, but if I remember I'll get to that later.

It makes me angry, and here's why:

First off, we get the enormously complex drum beat. It lasts about 4 to 8 beats before it starts over. This lasts the entire song. So for two to four minutes we get the same 8 second beat, over and over.

Secondly, the annoying synthesized rhythm; which is the only thing that classifies these things as songs. Much like the drum beat; this usually lasts a little bit longer, about as long as a line of the chorus or so. Then it repeats, and we are forced to have it stuck in our heads forever. This also brings me to another point: they have run out of these clever three-beat rhythms. So they diverted to the good stuff, like classic Black Sabbath (have no idea who the fucker that ruined this song is) and Aerosmith (stupid Eminem, I should cap his ass—oh wait, is this a rap song? Because you can't have a rap song unless you talk about killing cops or how George Bush sucks or something...). Now they've teamed up with Linkin Park, to produce the worst pile of shit ever imagined.

Thirdly, the lyrics. Out of every kind of music, this kind takes the cake. Stupid, unoriginal, repetitive blather that never tells you anything other than how they busted a cop's ass with their 9mm, while high, while getting laid, in the ghetto. (So what if that's a run-on sentence, eat my dick.)

Lastly, the whole persona that is rap. How the fans act, how the rappers act, how they call themselves 'artists' when if you gave them a guitar they'd say, "fuck nigga, I don't play soccer! I'm gonna bust gats on yo' azz!" The fans always argue about how rock is just as bad. They say it's just Devil worshipping noise. I'm not really into the hard rock stuff, like Metallica or Korn (I'm not comparing those two, because Korn is who they are because of MTV, and we all know MTV sucks. Korn still has 98032 times as much talent as ANY rapper). I love alternative rock, grunge, and classic rock, like Tom Petty, The Hammer of the Gods. Have you ever heard an instrumental rap song? That's what I though, there aren't any, and that's because it would be exactly the same the entire way through. Ever just listened to rap without paying attention to the audio? Yea that's what I though, nothing special. Look at Joe Satriani, the GREAT guitarist. I bet probably over 80% of all his own work is instrumental. I have three of his albums, a total of about 40 songs, and 4 have lyrics in them.

Good music = anything but rap, and pop glamour bullshit fed to us through the boobs of beautiful women such as Britney or whatever.

All right that's it, oh, and by the way...

How to make a rap song:

1. Make sure you grew up in the ghetto, have a brother in prison, or got shot. Or at least be a very good liar.
2. Take a classic song, such as Black Sabbath's Crazy Train, or Aerosmith's Dream on, or, if you're old school, Aerosmith's Walk This Way
3. Take the basic rhythm sequence
4. And rap lyrics. (somewhere along the theme of: cops suck, I fuck mad hoes, and I bust gats on yo' ass)
5. Add a synthesized drum beat.

If you disagree with anything you find on this post, you are wrong... (ty maddox)

I don't believe rap would be where it is today if Aerosmith had not teamed up with R/DMC way back when on MTV; it boosted both bands But I'm a CORE Aerosmith fan (espially before they cleaned up, (Toys, Draw The Line, Night In The Ruts, Done With Mirrors, et cetra, and even after, to a lesser extent). Aerosmith and Blondie were the first rappers. Period. ("Rapture," by B., "Walk This Way," A.Smith, amongst countless others by both.}

I'll grant you drum beats and "white representation of rap", but my only argument stems from this statement above.

5 Best Rappers or Group:
1) Immortal Technique
2) Public Enemy
3) Dead Prez
4) Poor Righteous Teachers
5) NWA

--- What you can gather from these groups, if you'd bother to do any research on what 'rap' is (as in different genre's and artists) is that lyrics can be quite impressive. Rap or Hip Hop can be utilized in a way rarely seen with other genre in terms of social and political movements (if you say Punk, I'll slap you, because most Punk Musicians are retards). Therefore, look these groups up, listen to their music, than make a judgement call...perhaps afterward, you won't sound so fucking ignorant.

There is good music in every genre and if you don't think so, I'll give you a little hint, IT'S NOT ON THE RADIO! Rap/Hip-Hop is just like every other genre of music these days, you've got to check out the underground stuff to find the good artists. Just because you haven't taken the time to find good hip hop doesn't mean all of it's crap. Check out Dead Prez, Aesop Rock, El-P, Immortal Technique, and Sage Francis.

Rappers for the most part should never be called artist or musicians. The vast majority care very little for the actual artistic elements of music and simply go into hip-hop to make money and not have to really work for it. Not to mention how obviously shallow and fake they are. After a rapper has his first album about being from the "hood" he loses all credibility to say anything about being tough or from the ghetto. Not only that but they are partially responsible for the stereotypes of thugs and violent gansters that black men in the hood are trying to be. Instead of giving their community positive role models, thjey instead talk about violence, hoes, and other negative stereotypes that reinforce the stereotypes of men in the ghetto. Instead of trying to sell more and more albums they should be trying to help their community, instead of indirectly harming it, once they've reached a level of success.

Not to mention very small underground bands like Listen. and Sweet Nectar. But they're too underground to hear anything of theirs, unless you go to http://www.listencrew.com and check out some mp3's. Yeah, rap in general is a flaming piece of shit. There is a shitload of fake music out there, but the rap genre is probably 95% bullshit. Eminem is just Vanilla Ice's sequel. Beastie Boys are fucking old and should have quit a long time ago, but their 80's stuff at the least is good for a laugh, at least they don't make up stories about the hard-core lives they supposedly live. That's it for whitey rap, and blacks aren't any better at it for all the hype. Jay-Z ft. Linkin Park? What the fuck is that lame shit. Some big lipped piece of shit with a bulbous and equally shitty girlfriend teams up with some whiny faggot and an Asian with some weird square keyboard that looks like a Fred Flinstone Fone. OMG ITS OLDSKOOL RAP MEETS NU-ROCK IN A TOUR DE FORCE. Its funny how all the rappers who actually lived 'hard-core' lives instead of just lying about everything all died from gunshot wounds. And the fucking sampling. 20 years ago some stupid piece of shit decided it would be a good idea to take a spoken word sample from a half century old song or movie and play it over a beat, over and over and over. It's been done, it is a very clever contrast OLD Vs. NEW, but for fuck's sake, it's been done.

Anyway, check out my new rap album in stores Tuesday, I'm a white rapper from the streets who had to earn his respect in the 'hood. Also be sure to check out my controversial single that's gonna be on MTV and a hundred other mainstream music video stations, called "It's a hardknock I have AIDS", which samples both spoken word bytes from the hit broadway musical 'Annie' and the "I have AIDS" shtick from Philadelphia starring Tom Hanks.

Secondly there are rap instrumentals and they are very good. Making any music is hard. Rock music also talks about killing people all the time. My friend listens to alot of that heavy rock shit and its just screaming in a mike about killing people. I hate (most not all) rock music the same as you hate rap. You're a fucking idiot. Idiots are not welcome here.

First and foremost, there ARE instrumental rap songs. There are many.

Second, not all rap songs talk about 'killing cops while high, while getting laid, in the hood.' Many of the TRUE rappers, like Nas, rap about REAL LIFE things that they have been through. They make their music to inspire young kids to do something other than carry around guns and kill people. As I said, there are many songs that DO talk about that bullshit, but there are just as many that don't.

Sound doesn't have to be complex to be entertaining. Trust me, I listen to everything.

Last, get the fuck off of Bart's site.

"Take a classic song, such as Black Sabbath's Crazy Train, or Aerosmith's Dream on, or, if you're old school, Aerosmith's Walk This Way"

1) Crazy Train is NOT done by Black Sabbath, it was done by Ozzy Osbourne, AFTER he left Black Sabbath. Crazy Train was on Ozzy's first solo album, Blizzard of Ozz, which came out in 1980 (two years after Ozzy left Sabbath in 1978).
2) Black Sabbath is more "old school" that Aerosmith. Sabbath came about in 1962 as opposed to Aerosmith's debut in 1973. Sabbath is 11 years older. Sabbath also revolutionalized music be creating the heavy metal genre as we know it today. Black Sabbath are god's.
3) Aerosmith sucks.

For those three things, you should recieve a -2. But you bash rap, so I'll give you atleast 1.

Btw, for future reference... next time you post, make sure you know what you're talking about and have your facts straight.
------------------------------------
1) sorry, my bad, you could probably tell since i am not into metallica that i am not into music like theirs....Black Sabbath.

2) i was talking about old school rap, when aerosmith did some stupid rap rendition with some bitch from nwa or something

3) aerosmith is OK, look at how they sold out some of their songs...stupid band.

btw, i screwed up one one fact, and it was only somewhat wrong, so stfu. i don't listen to ozzy, but i knew he sang crazy train, and i knew that he was in black sabbath. so stfu again.

you cant classify metallica into hard shit

metallica is so diverse it doesnt even fit anywhere in one point

(nothing else matters master of puppets)

also, anyone can argue against any type of music, most don't have reasons, you did so +2 for principle

ps: i despise any music without singing... from screaming rock shit to rap, its gotta have a singer to be good

best combination = heavy music with aesome female singer (lacuna coil, evanessence)

First, Metallica is about as diverse as a country club in the Hamptons. I mean, I love Metallica (for they're music, they seem to be huge dicks when not thrashing), but they're metal. That's it.

you cant classify metallica into hard shit

metallica is so diverse it doesnt even fit anywhere in one point

(nothing else matters master of puppets)

also, anyone can argue against any type of music, most don't have reasons, you did so +2 for principle

ps: i despise any music without singing... from screaming rock shit to rap, its gotta have a singer to be good

best combination = heavy music with aesome female singer (lacuna coil, evanessence)
