http://boxer.senate.gov/news/record.cfm?id=230450

The Cliff Notes for the article above are as follows:
Yesterday (1/6/05), Senator Barbara Boxer (D. California) issued a formal objection to the Ohio recount and presidential election results of 2004. She cites numerous examples of voter fraud and groups of voters that were denied the right to vote in Ohio. She also cites that a year ago she, along with Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Graham (I'm guessing Bob Graham, but I'm not sure), "introduced legislation that would have required that electronic voting systems provide a paper record to verify a vote."

Alright, Senator Boxer, let's look at your examples of how the Ohio vote was unfair and illegitimate.

"Why did voters in Ohio wait hours in the rain to vote? Why were voters at Kenyan College, for example, made to wait in line until nearly 4 a.m. to vote because there were only two machines for 1300 voters?"

*I arose at 6 AM to get to my polling place in Georgia. I got there one hour before voting began, and I was waiting so far back in line that I was outside of the elementary school in the rain. I wore a rain coat. Problem solved.

"Why did poor and predominantly African-American communities have disproportionately long waits?"

*Any proof Senator Graham? How do you know they're poor? Did they fill out income surveys on their way to the polling place? Perhaps you made that judgment from their appearance or where they live?

"Why in Franklin County did election officials only use 2,798 machines when they said they needed 5,000? Why did they hold back 68 machines in warehouses? Why were 42 of those machines in predominantly African-American districts?"

*Perhaps there were errors with those machines. Maybe they were not working correctly. Better to not use them at all than to use them and not have them tally correctly, I say. You'll also see here: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/OH/P/00/county.000.html that Franklin County was carried by Kerry.

"Why did, in Columbus area alone, an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 voters leave polling places, out of frustration, without having voted? How many more never bothered to vote after they heard about this?"

*Is it the government's fault that they're not patient? I will wait all night and day to cast my vote if that's what it takes. I will not leave until I understand what I have to do and cast my vote. If I have a problem and no one will help me, I will cause mayhem until I get my question answered and figure out how to vote. As for people who "never bothered to vote after they heard about this," I doubt they would have voted anyway if something as simple as that stopped them. "Oh, it's too hard to vote, I won't bother." Then don't bitch when you're man doesn't get elected!

"Why is it when 638 people voted at a precinct in Franklin County, a voting machine awarded 4,258 extra votes to George Bush. Thankfully, they fixed it - but how many other votes did the computers get wrong?"

*I don't know. That's what the recount was for.

"Why did Franklin County officials reduce the number of electronic voting machines in downtown precincts, while adding them in the suburbs? This also led to long lines."

*Perhaps they believed more people would be voting near their homes instead of their businesses. That's not unreasonable.

"In Cleveland, why were there thousands of provisional ballots disqualified after poll workers gave faulty instructions to voters?"

*How do you know that they were given faulty instructions? How about we look to an extremely leftist site for insight: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/11/4/224812/643
Markos Moulitsas Zúniga, owner and author for The Daily Kos, even admits that there is NO way Kerry could have taken Ohio with the provisional ballots all counting.

So Senator Boxer, how is it that your objection to the November election is helping America? I commend you and appreciate your diligence in introducing legislation for a paper trail with electronic voting. It shows that you are interested in making sure the US elections are fair and just. However, making nonsensical, unsubstantiated, and ridiculous statements as you have in your letter is not going to help anyone. It won't help John Kerry win the election. It won't help the United States move forward in progress of equality and unity. It won't help your career as a Senator. It won't help the African American community that you seem to defend so strongly.

It will help prove to the US that you are a leftist wacko that only wants to slow the acts of Congress down by bringing up dead issues that will, in your case, hopefully undermine or illegitimatize the current US President's elected status. Please, for the sake of your country, give it up. Stop trying to take the presidency, and do some more good for California and America.

In closing, here's a great picture of Senator Boxer and everyone's favorite murderous Senator, Ted Kennedy. (Hiccup! Oops, Freudian slip)

Re: Attached photo, Kennedy & Boxer

Hey, if there are Uberers in Massachussetts who own a rifle with a decent telescopic sight maybe we can pick a day on the calendar and have a coordinated hit.

-One Californian who is fucking sick and tired of Barbara Boxer.

Too young to remember - did Dukakis and Mondale just disappear too?
----------
Not sure, unfortunately, I'm too young to accurately answer that too. This is only the second presidential election that I've been very cognizant of.

Glad they did. Rice is just a Bush yes-person. Powell fought against the Pentagon and White Houses excesses. Sure, he would always lose - but the State Dep. under Rice will just follow Rumsfeld and Bush wherever they may lead us.

Interesting how the CNN story on this fixated on Boxer's nay vote. Kerry only got a single mention. Is he a persona non grata in the American media now?
---------------------------

Yeah, I also find that interesting about Kerry. Has the media dislodged itself from his cock already? So soon after him losing the election? 'Tis a pity, really.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Boxer and Kerry were the ONLY two to vote against Rice today in the Senate.

Notice that the -2's come with a review that is insulting?

True, I can't say conservatives are completely innocent of it, but you're much harder pressed to find it among Republicans and other conservatives.

What Boxer is failing to realize is that none of the objections she raised is grounds for overturning the election. Her little stunt was just that - a political ploy as transparent as used Neutrogena. Democrats, do yourself a favor, get idiots like Boxer, Rangel, and Conyers out of your party. Just throw them out. You'll be strengthened and reinvigorated.
-------------

True.

She even said herself that she didn't think her objection would change the outcome of the election. Now, I'm all for election reform if it's messed up, but we've seen in the past two elections that it works despite protests, lawsuits, and hissy fits.

nobody cares that he got a blowjob.

what worries people is, if the president is picking up extra-marital affairs, what ISN'T he doing, (ie. responding to terrorist attacks on US citizens in and out of the US).

Like if my boss catches me on Ubersite, it's not like he'd be pissed that I'm actually on Ubersite, he'd be pissed that I WASN'T DOING MY JOB.
----------------

Excellent point, boomslang.

Oh, and Loki, correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time I checked the military services were volunteer-based.

And just because Clinton avoided any conflict like the plague (ie Bosnia and Somalia) doesn't mean that Bush was responsible for the deaths of the brave soldiers in Iraq. I guess he could always just bring them all back here and block all the attacks on the US from here.

I'd rather fight them in their backyard than mine.

me too, brother.

Senators Feinstein and Clinton drafted some legislature following the 2000 election to eliminate the Electoral Vote from the Presidential Election.

This time, they have a problem with the Popular Vote.

hmmmm.

This is such a vast oversimplification of the issue that I don't deem it worth answering.

I'm sure if you think hard enough, you can find a way to blame it all on the fact that Clinton got a blow job while in office though.

Maybe I'd have to see the press coverage Bush gets in the US to understand how seemingly intelligent people like xenon can support him.

The man enjoys sub-zero support everywhere else. I don't like to propose an ignorant US public as the reason for his victory, because this post is clearly not ignorant.

Genuinely puzzles me.

The Republican answer:

Fucking excuse for EVERYTHING. Such a bunch of fucking liars.
---------------

Excuses?! What do you call what the Dems have been doing since after the election? Take a look at Michael Moore's site and see what he posted the day or two after the election if you want to see excuses.

"You have to feel sorry for the millions of Yanks in the big cities like New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco who voted to kick him out.

These are the sophisticated side of the electorate who recognise a gibbon when they see one.

As for the ones who put him in, across the Bible Belt and the South, us outsiders can only feel pity."

From this post: http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/index.php?id=285

Excuse after excuse. There's a LOT more where that came from.
