The first 26 Chapters are here starting with "The Death of Mattaius Pitt":

NECROSIAC 31

Trevor Norland looked at the dying man, gave him a friendly smile and asked "How much?"

The thin middle aged man with the "Hello by name is Bill" name tag shivered as if someone had walked over his grave, then ran one grease stained hand over his stubbly pointed chin and replied

"That'll be Twenty One Ninety Five. You want I should check the oil?"

Trevor pulled his billfold from his wallet, removed two twenty dollar bills and handed them out the window.

"Yes please. Here, keep the change"

Bill gratefully took the money with one fuel hardened hand and stuffed it into the breast pocket of his dirty grey coveralls. He turned towards the back of the gunmetal grey vehicle then swayed on his feet, as another cold wave of Mobian energy radiated from the back seat of the SUV.

Trevor did his best to look concerned "Are you feeling OK Bill? You don't look so good"

"Yeah... No" The scruffy man's crooked toothed reply came back dazed "I think I'm coming down with something. I'll check your oil quick and then maybe I'll call it a night"

"Thanks Pal"

Trevor raised the tinted glass window and let the friendly mask drop from his face then turned back to check his passenger.

After a momentary inspection he climbed into the back and readjusted Lillith from where she had slipped out of her shoulder strap and lay slumped against the side wall.

A few awkward maneuvers later, he wiped the drool from her cheek and the inside of the passenger window, rearranged the blankets wrapped around her to hold her in place, and returned to the driver's seat. Confident his vegetative passenger was secure, he turned his gaze to the deep black of the overcast country night and hoped the attendant finished his chore before the Mobian energy racing through his body became terminal.

A quick look at his watch told him he'd been driving close to nine hours and had at least three more to go. He reached into his pocket and removed a small vial then opened it with one practiced hand and took two quick snorts of the remaining contents. Another smaller wave of Mobian energy hit him from behind, so he quickly re-weaved the protective spell around himself, then waited for the inevitable surge of cocaine induced energy to jostle him from the days encroaching exhaustion.

He looked down at the bottle in his hand and silently wished for the day of his Deadening. He had realized some time ago that he'd crossed the boundary between recreational user and addict and found himself longing, more and more, for the day he could shed his mortal weaknesses for a Necromancer's true shell.

A momentary spell of paranoia took him and he dug to the bottom of his bag to make sure he had enough of the white powder for an extended stay in the country. For a split second he wondered if it was the only thing keeping him in the game. He wondered if he would have been able to carry his magic leaking passenger as far as he had without wrapping the SUV around a tree. The pulses of power coming from the backseat had been terrifying at first. He'd driven, white faced and sweating, for the first two hours of the journey, wondering if he would make it more than a few hours before the Necrosiac inadvertently turned him into a mindless pet.

The bursts of Mobian energy had been bad but he luckily had the skill to ward himself against them. What had really terrified him about his passenger were the momentary illusions that had caused him to swerve into the oncoming lane, or the sudden overwhelming need to bolt into the back seat and throw himself at his Mistresses feet.

After the first hour he'd learned to deal with the illusions. He'd eventually understood the little red haired girl on the road and the pulsating hateful clown thing, which occasionally appeared to scream at him from the passenger seat, were less than real.

As far as he could tell from the random chatter emanating from the police scanner lodged under the fake wooden dashboard, his unpredictable driving hadn't drawn any unwanted attention to himself from the police.

The last thing he needed was to leave a trail of dead policemen to his father's house in the woods.

He'd dealt with the illusions but found himself utterly defenseless against the wave of Seductress lust which sometimes followed. Fortunately the lusting had not yet been long enough to cause him to abandon the wheel for a terminal amount of time. Still, he'd handcuffed his left hand to it in the hope that the time it took to fish the key out of his knapsack and take them off would be enough to outlast any longer episodes.

A few hours prior to his gas stop the Seductress pulses had stopped but he'd kept the cuffs on just in case, only removing them as he pulled into the lonely run down gas station.

A quick check told him the handcuffs were still in his pocket if he should need them again.

He craned his neck to peer curiously over around the upraised hood but a slight jostling of the vehicle told him the attendant was still among the living and he found himself wondering what kind of chaos he'd left at the corner store he'd stopped at a few hours earlier, to buy provisions.

He'd seen the distinct graying skin and bluish veins of Mobian infection on at least two of the people entering the small country store as he'd left. Experience told him the magic had burrowed deep enough to send them to the same eventual fate of the man working under the hood in front of him.

He didn't care so much about the lives lost due to his visit as much as the trail he might be leaving for the agency to follow and he wondered if he shouldn't consider some other option. After a few moments deliberation he decided to continue with the Pentates chosen course. Thanks to Lillith's brother, the Agency had been more or less crippled and even if they did somehow manage to tie the undead in their wake to her, he doubted they would successfully discern the whereabouts of his hermetic father.

His father, he decided, would be another issue altogether.

Coming up with a lie to explain his sudden appearance at the old man's doorstep would be relatively simple, as would be his connection to Lillith. The hard part would be explaining her catatonic condition and the sudden powerful bursts of at least three different types of magic that emanated from her like aftershocks from an earthquake. His father was a heretic and blasphemer to be sure but, despite his loathing of the man, Trevor knew better than to dismiss him as less than intelligent. He had, after all, been Pentate for more years than his current master.

He'd spent the time during his trip, not taken up fighting the deadly influences from the back seat, by trying to come up with a cover story his father would buy but had come up empty. Partly because he hardly knew the man and partly because nothing in his experience had ever prepared him for the situation he found himself in.

He'd hoped that, the clarity of thought that came with a coke high, might provide him with some insight but was left with frustration instead.

Finally he supposed he might just tell his father that he didn't know what was wrong with her. He might just say that she'd had a run in with a powerful Seer and her mind had been damaged. He supposed if worse came to worse, and his father refuse to help, he could use his blade to end the old mans life and do his best to see to the Necrosiacs recovery himself- or better yet- summon Hadrian himself.

Trevor leaned back in his seat and tilted his head on its axis to loosen the stiffening muscles in his neck. He felt himself begin to relax a little as he realized that at least he had choices.

The vehicle jostled gently as the attendant tentatively pushed the hood down then returned to the window and gave him a trembling thumbs up.

Trevor rolled down the window again to get a good look at the dying mans face and stifled his delight at what he saw.

"That'll be another five fifty" said Bill just before coughing wetly into one hand.

From the pallor of the man's think weather worn face, Trevor could tell he had as little as half an hour before death took him.

"Wow, you really don't look so good"

Bill smiled meekly and took the twenty offered him with a grateful nod.

"No? I guess I've got a touch of something. I'm definitely going home early"

Trevor smiled "Keep it" he said as he waved away the offered change "You a family man?"

Bill smiled back and coughed again then fumbled in his coveralls, retrieved a plain brown wallet on a chain and opened it to show him a faded picture of what must be his family.

"Wife and two boys, ages 9 and 11" he said proudly "How about you?"

Trevor gave an appreciative glance at the photo then leaned out the window and shook his head.

"Not really much of a family man I'm afraid. I prefer the company of my pets"

Bill chuckled and replaced the wallet in his pocket "Definitely not for everyone, that's for sure"

Trevor smiled back, started the vehicle and offered his hand "Thanks for the great service buddy. You should go home to your family. I can tell they'll take good care of you"

Bill shook it then took a step back and waved goodbye "Thanks, I'll do that. I haven't had a bite to eat all day, which is probably why I feel so weak. I'm damn near ravenous to tell the truth"

"Bill my friend" he replied with a wink "You don't know the half of it"

Well I for one think that Bill deserves to be turned into a zombie. He just got an $18 tip and the bastard asks for $5.50 to check the oil... What's the world coming to.

Fixermixer,

WOW!

That's one of the best compliments I've been given.

Thank you so much.
__________

I used to be a man. I had surgery and became a woman just so that I could bear your illegitimate children.

I once was blind but now I see.

I used to be a successful airline pilot. I gave it up because there's a possibility you're afraid of flying and I wanted you to love me.

There once was a man from Nantucket
Whose dick was so long he could suck it
He said with a smile
That stretched half a mile
"If my ear was a cunt, I could get Snark to fuck it because his penis is much longer than mine and very very attractive, too, in a way that penii rarely are."

BEAT THAT!!!

I think.. I should stop drinking coffee for a while.
