The phrase you're looking for is "Ya nye ponemayu, ya nye guvuryu pu russki", ( I don't understand, I don't speak russian) if I remember correctly. Roll your r's when you say it. Say it as you see it, it's spelled as close to phonetically as I can.
It shows them you made the effort to learn a little of their language, and hopefully they'll return the favour.
