This is for all military, former military or military sympathizers on ubersite. I am trying to get a network setup so the few and the proud ,who seem to be traveling a lot recently, have friendly face to meet them wherever they go. Since most of our traveling involves sneaking away from the terminal and finding the closest pub to get smashed before the next flight, I term this network the "Military drinking buddies network."
All those interested just drop me an email : obh3_3d@yahoo
once i get enough names i will send out a mass email to all who are interested and then hopefully get the network up and operational.
All I need in the mail is this
1)name
2)location
3)rating of bars in local area (1-5 beers: 5 beers being really stupor inducing)
That is all. Rather easy. If your heading to a certain area, look up a local and drop them an email.
I will update the list as necessary.
For my part, I leave iraq in a a couple weeks and I will be doing a european tour shortly therafter. I will happily meet with anyone interested. If anyone is in the eifel area of germany, i will show them the best of what that area has to offer.
Even if you don't like the troops, you can particpate. Just about everyone likes to drink and just about any difference can be solved over a few pints. Consider it the good deed of your day.

i am in a warzone right now an yet more american people are killed in detroit per month than here in iraq. Hell you can sub detroit with just about any other major american city. I think i have a right to be paranoid. I am safer in iraq than i am in my beloved U.S.

Gosh what a relief that everyone who has the ability to kill isn't acting on it. Except that anybody has the ability to kill. Read the papers, a two-year-old fucking around with a loaded gun can kill.

as you well know loki, there is a large military community on ubersite. And you also know that people act differently in person than they do on the net. I am happy to say that most military members i know are extremely well mannered and usually don't act upon the ability to kill you. You civilians already have a high enough murder and assault rate for us leave it alone.
honestly though: is there room for manners on a site like this?

Oh I think it's a cute idea, but it conjures up images of bar stools flying through plate glass windows.
Not that I don't think Military people can behave, just not the union of Military and Übersite.
