Courtesy of an interesting evening yesterday, I finally came to the conclusion that I very much like the 'Gothic' subculture. It's very accepting of so many philosophies and backgrounds, as long as you can accept life for its true bleak morbidity and wear some black. Plus they have cool music.

I spent most of the daytime of the day in question at a friend of a friend's house mucking around with music, with some people I thought fairly random. I realised eventually a couple of them were into Goth culture.

Now, I'd never met these people before, but I trust my friend's judgement (since she's my best friend's sister, and I've been hauled ass-first out of some awkward shit by her before) and certainly her taste in friends. So when one of them recommended I go into the city and check out this club, I took it as a serious suggestion.

I live way out in the suburbs, and I was getting lazy by the time I had to go in. However my friend's brother (formerly known as 10c7c, as I'll refer to him) had also been invited and he insisted I go. Bear in mind, I'm lazy, so I was still dressed fairly average (by my standards; khaki jeans, combat boots, red t, and black leather jacket).

Anyway, me and 10c7c got there, he's dressed all in black but like a mainstream dance-clubber. He's... well I don't know why he wanted to wait outside a moment, but I agreed to wait with him. Bearing in mind that street signs are usually good for leaning against, I did so. It shifted. I held onto it warily for a moment, before the outside bouncer says that if we're still here a while later after having been seen on the security camera. I figure it's better to put it down than let it fall and have someone's parked car damaged.

10c7c wants to see if we can get in free, so he tries to call her on his cell phone. No answer. Soon enough though, another of her friends I already knew came along, and we decided to go in. No sooner do we get to the counter to pay the cover charge than I look around and spot her in the crowd. I called out to her, greeted the Door-minatrix, and the other bouncer promptly told me something along the lines of our behaviour being inappropriate, and ushered us both outside. He didn't listen to us commenting that she was, in fact, 10c7c's sister, and he didn't let us in until she got told we were outside and came to get us. He grudgingly acknowledged that in fact, we did know her and weren't being inappropriate just because we weren't wearing all black. I'll admit that khaki pants were a bad choice, but the line is fine there because I have long flowing dark hair.

Quite frankly, I don't think I'd be wearing all black anyway, because with UV lights like that there's so much you can do!

After that, it was only a short matter of time before I decided I love it. Industrial techno is cool, metal has its high spots, and 80's music rules. Plus the black thing, a reasoned approach to new ideas, and a complete lack of respect for the concepts of hope and faith. I danced a lot (apparently I dance goth-style very well) and afterwards spent a large portion of the morning talking to... well basically, a stranger. 10c7c left a little before I did, before I got the attractive female stranger's name and number.

Since I'm quite often a babbling idiot, I decided to get out while I was ahead, gave her a non-commital hug and ended up leaving to the tune of 'common people'.

"Are you sure you want to live like common people, you want to do whatever common people do? You'll never fail like common people, you'll never watch your life slide out of view, and dance, and drink, and screw, because there's nothing else to do."

One time I went to an MSI concert wearing a pair of khaki coloured slacks and then a white blouse. Got a lot a weird looks. Needless to say, looked a lot diffrent than the blokes wearing spiky chokers and heavy eyeliner. I still love MSI.

Quite frankly, I thought you would have recognised that I have a borderline personality disorder quire some time ago.

As far as disjointedness goes, how the fuck is anyone supposed to make a goth club sound coherent?

"Goth?" Goth=bullshit. Borderline (as in personality disorder) bullshit.

I read about half of this, but this is the clincher:

You've written this in a very disjointed style, without enough substance to get away with it. But hey, I love Pulp.
