All of the sudden doesn't make any fucking sense. What's 'the sudden'? And what's 'all of' it anyway? Sudden is an adjective.
So, I use All of a sudden, because I'm not a damn retard.

"All of a sudden" is the correct and only way to say it. "All of the sudden" is bad grammar and wrong.
All people who speak English as a first language should be able to speak it properly, without exception.

I use "All of a sudden..." In fact, I have a pretty strong inkling that the other one is merely another perverted mutilation of the English language.
"All of the sudden?" Come on! It sounds like the kind of utterance you would expect from people who pronounce 'Spaghetti' 'B-sghetti' and 'Nuclear' 'Nuke-you-lar'.
Oh sure, I might be a pedant - but when Judgement Day cometh, at least my Heavenly Migration Application Form won't come back with a big "DENIED" stamp and a multitude of spelling and grammar corrections in holy red ink!
