I know they were equivalent... but Ryu was WAY better than Ken.

Saying Ryu is better than Ken is like saying you would rather have a quarter for a payphone rather than a cell.
Ok, sure Ryu has a better fireball, and his hurricane kick was stronger, but Ken has speed as well a the dragon punch the extendeds outwards giving more of an area for attack rather than straight upwards like Ryu's, leaving you ready for anal pleasures by the man-bear Zangief. As well Ken has a black mono-brow with blonde hair!!! How can you be cooler???
Ken is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.

The answer to this question hinges entirely upon which Street Fighter game is in discussion. If we're talking about the origional Street Fighter II, (Not Turbo, Hyper, Fast, Quick, 2 Alarm, or Spearemint) then Guile Whoops both of their asses hands Down! Any other version and it's Ken!
Its the extra reach on his "invincible" uppercut that gives him the edge.
P.S. I guarantee I could whoop any of your asses in the origional. And I could do it with Dhalism. Yoga Fire Bitches!!!

Ken is the better just because in the later editions of the game (the gay ones with stupid titles like 'Super Street fighter EX plus alpha two turbo: Black belt edition') Ken's Dragon punch used to set people on fire.
Anyway you're all wrong, In the editions where you could play him, M Bison was the shit.
Ps: Guile was a slow-ass fag.

Ken is Bon Jovi. Ryu was the best of the two.

they werent the same character. they both had slightly different timing and feel. ken was quicker, and ryu was more powerful. it usually took ken at least two punches to equal ryu's damage with one.

honestly mate, Ryu is superior. having said that my mate would disagree, we always used to fight with those two it would always be even. Ryu = Power Ken = Speed.
And in Alpha 3 Ken used to have a sneaky roll thing that used to piss me off, but lets face it who would you rather be? Ken with bleached blonde hair or Ryu who has truely mastered his Martial Art and is at one with the world.

i used to OWN muthafuckas with RYU in xmen vs. streetfighter. i had a 2 week winning streak playing every night against 8 or so people til i started talking shit one night and jinxed myself :(
