So, I guess I'm having a hard time letting this story go. This is the final alternate ending I mentioned and I'd like to know what you think. Which do you like best? Thanks for all the compliments, encouragement and comments, Now it's time for me to think of something else worthwhile to write!

I lay in bed slowly waking to the world around me. Not sure where I am, I look around in confusion trying to place the stark white walls, a door with a barred window? What is this place? I think back over the last few months trying to make the connection to the place I now seem to be trapped in but I can't remember coming here. Someone's at the door now, it swings open and a large man wearing white comes in: "time for your treatment Ben."
I am walked, ass hanging out of a hospital style smock, down the hall to a room filled with some freaky looking equipment. I'm directed to a chair that looks vaguely familiar. As they strap me in it dawns on me, this is the same chair I took to Jeff. If it's not the exact same one it is the same model. I start to scream as the orderly holds me down while another straps me in; soon I'm locked down to the chair with the headpiece resting on my brow.
A doctor walks in, "how are you feeling Ben?" As I open my mouth to reply the orderly shoves a long tongue depressor in my mouth and instructs me to bite down. I try to push it back out of my mouth but the orderly holds it firmly in place. The doctor seems to be talking to himself in the corner, and in an effort to figure out what's going on I sit still and hear the doctor rattling off stats.
"BP ninety over one twenty, steady pulse, this is the tenth treatment for patient 19876, Ben Jacobs, January 19 2005 10:30 A.M. Applying shock to patient"
At this point a searing pain runs through my skull and I'm slammed forward into the restraints as my back arches trying to release the energy flowing through me. Finally the pain stops my body falls back into the chair while the last of the electrically induced convulsion races through me.
"Treatment successfully administered to patient 19876, releasing patient to room." The doctor walks out from his corner: "See you later this afternoon Ben."
The orderly roughly plucks me out of the chair and tosses me into a waiting wheelchair before wheeling me back to my room. I try to get up, to yell, anything but my body doesn't respond to the commands I give it. The orderly pulls me out of the chair and throws me on the bed and shortly thereafter the world goes blank again.
I wake a short time later to the face of the orderly once again. He pulls me up and walks me to an office down the hall. I'm instructed to sit in a chair and as I do so the doctor walks in again. He waves the orderly out of the room and sits across from me.
"How are you feeling today Ben?"
"What are you doing to me? What the fuck is going on here?"
"Calm down Ben, in an effort to make some progress today I'll try to address the questions you have every time we start our sessions so that we can move on. You are in a state facility for the mentally insane. You are undergoing to a new treatment process and receive daily shock treatments and then come to me for counseling afterward. You were sent here shortly after returning from that game show you were on because you could not cope. You were found on the last day of the show clinging to the top of a tree and had to be taken out of the tree by force. It is not unusual for you to experience memory loss, confusion, and minor headaches during the treatment, and the last time we talked we were discussing some very vivid dreams you've been having."
I sat looking at the doctor trying to accept what he was telling me, trying to make sense of the words coming out of his mouth. Did he really tell me that everything I've experienced since leaving the island was a dream? That's not possible is it? And him, sitting there looking so smugly patient, who the hell does he think he is? He can't do this to me I'm the Survivor! Holy shit, he's looking at me like he can hear what I'm thinking, what the hell? Oh god, please let this be a dream, I can't stand this. I know if this is a dream I can kill him and he'll go away right?
I get up and lunge at the doctor and am immediately restrained by two very large hands. The orderly again! As he holds me the doctor sticks me with a syringe and as I drift off I vaguely hear the doctor giving instructions.
"Take him back to his room, we'll try again tomorrow."

You get a +2 based on the series as a whole.
Sorry it took me so long to get around to it, but rest assured it was worthwhile.
The second ending,(blowing up the building), worked by far the best for me.
I didn't want to see Ben becoming part of the system after fighting so hard against it.
Excellent series, I hope "Cardboard Box" continues to be as impressive.

Davros, thanks for taking the time to read all this. This ending pretty much sucks and I too ended up liking the second one best. It has the fewest problems. Any lasting impressions, comments, suggestions?

This being the final 'Survivor' post, it gets an automatic +2... still, this ending is a bit weak, doesn't really resolve anything. Maybe it's just a little to close to cliche territory.
Don't want to end on a downer, though. This series was awesome, although that's damn near an entire evening gone reading it!

Then, after the doctor sends him back to his room, Ben plots an escape from the institution unaware everything is being filmed for the new reality show "Escape, starring Revenge Ben from Survivor" and then it would turn into a new 50-parter Running Man style.

No don't let it die, that is a great idea. Have them watching him or something and they had it easily escapable and somehow he obtains his winnings to keep running from them and all that shit and they end up forming a new show out of it, that would be kick ass man awesome.
But if you do end up letting it die which I do not think you should do then this ending but it coming after the other one with him destroying the building would be good, have them both have happened.

Eh - the alternate ending was the best (blowing up the studio). I always hate stories where everything you've read is not the real story. Seems like a waste. But it was all right, so +1.
