This rant of mine started after I read http://www.ubersite.com/m/28926 . So if you hate this feel free to take it out on that guy for inspiring me to write this.

Pedophilia is one of the few issues that really gets under my skin. We live in a society that constantly encourages us to act as young as possibly. Old men getting to old? No problem will give them pills that will get their penises feeling 20 years younger. We obsess on finding the next hot icon be it the Olsen twins, Hillary Duff, or Mari Sharapova. Today I was eating dinner and looked at my ketchup bottle and for some reason "Lindsay Lohan" was on the cover of it. And one of the major issues in the news this week has been about a Cartoon character's video which is intended for children. We're obsessed with feeling young, acting young, and impersonating the young. But for some reason we put a barrier up when it comes to sex. Sex with a 17 year old is ok, but 16? Then you get into murky territory and risk being called a child molester. Because all humans are the same and all are ready and capable of the same thing at the same age...depending on what state you are in that is.
For one it is based on an arbitrary age which is different depending on where you can have sex. I mean I guess if I want to have sex with a 15 year old I drive out to Iowa and meet her there for a romp in the hay? And some states say it's ok to have sex with a 14 year old as long as you are within 5 years of age. Damn that makes me pissed off. I wouldn't have wasted my November 3rd if I had known it was the last day that I would be allowed to me to drive to fuck High school freshman in Iowa. Oh well luckily I can still pork 14 year olds in Missouri till I turn 21, when all of the sudden the girl would have to be 17.
Then there is the Romeo and Juliet issue. A classic love story or child pornography? Juliet is 13 years old in this play. So since I own the most recent movie of it am I in possession of child pornography? The greatest love story of all time most people would call "sick and disgusting" if it were to happen nowadays. Yet this was a perfectly acceptable age in the past for intercourse. I guess I better keep my DVD of the movie hidden in case the cops raid me for child porn. Just kidding, I keep that movie hidden so my friends won't see it and beat me up for owning that movie.
Thirdly, the gay factor. The media has been shoving it down our throats that it's ok for people to be gay. After all it seems like a fairly simple concept that people can't help how they are born or who they love, right? Yet while that has been the stance on homosexuality, everyone wants to murder anyone who has sex with a "child". Where's the difference? One involves consenting relations between two consenting adults, and one involves consenting relations between two individuals, though one is not socially defined as an adult. Because society tells you when you are capable of having a thought process.
America's way of legislating when people become responsible is ridiculous. 16 year olds can drive vehicles, 18 year olds can vote and die for their country, 21 year olds can drink alcohol, and 25 year olds get breaks on their car insurance. I still remember when it turned midnight on my 18th birthday and I told my friends "whoa, I just got hit by a wave of responsibility through my body." It is insane to honestly believe that time determines when a person become responsible.
Gone are the days of when being capable of having sex meant hey, you can go have sex now. Now if you meet a girl or a boy who wants to have sex with you, you better make sure you check their ids first. This is just freaking ridiculous and completely flies in the face of society's "you're as young as you feel" attitude. Luckily there's a man in power who agrees with my views.

I went to a small highschool and the year i graduated there were 4 pregnant freshman girls. Guess what, if ANY single girl has sex she runs the risk of getting pregnant. This does not change with age and should not be condemned by parents one day and then encouraged by sex in the city the next.

Kiddie porn? Hardly. There is no nudity, no sexual contact. She is fully clothed. Just because some people might masturbate to it does not make it porn. Oh no a 7th grader having sex with a 35 year old man and getting pregnant?!?!? Chances are she would be having sex regardless of the age of the person involved. Once someone is biologically capable to have sex guess what, they will have sex. Even if it's just masturbation, they are consenting in a sexual act.
People around the world have sex once they are capable of it. It used to be fairly common practice for girls to get married as soon as they entered their teens. Yet nowadays with the increased life expentancy everything has been phased shifted so that we are expected to do things later in life. It is no longer the norm for people to get married right after highschool. But just because society deems different things as the norm nowadays does not give it the right to judge actions from the past as disgusting.

But the laws allow suzy to fuck the highschool quarterback and risk pregnancy. Well maybe not if he just turned 18, but otherwise it's A-ok. The way I see it there should not be laws regarding consensual sex. And calling consensual sex rape is just plain dumb. And if there is then the only law that would make sense would making all sex illegal unless done between married individuals.

As to having to draw the line somwehere, how about if they are capable of reproduction they can have sex?
Ref, it would be ludicrous though to say that all children become mentally mature at the same time. Each situation should be studied on a case by case basis and the child should be evaluated by a psychiatrist.

Yup you are right, because if it was legal there would be a huuuuuuge rise in teen pregnancy. I mean imagine highschool freshman having to miss months of school because they are pregnant. Oh wait, IT ALREADY HAPPENS. People at this age are having sex, and we say it's ok for them to have sex, just as long as it's not with somebody who is reasonable of thinking on their own. So sex does not require psychological maturity as long as it is not sex with a psychologically mature person.

I think that the law is in place for a reason. Namely that the majority of 13 yr olds i've come across don't have the emotional capability to deal with things like sex and love. Imagine if it was legal and you got a 13 yr old girl pregnant. You would be in a right mess, and I would be in fits of laughter with a punch worthy smirk on my face!

your point has flaws though.
in years past you could have sex with "minors." It wasn't a big deal because they knew what they were doing. Nowadays, a girl and/or guy may be sexually mature, but thanks to over-parenting in the last couple generations, they are not mentally mature. They don't know what they are getting into. This can be blamed on over emphasizing teaching kids about sex in school rather than by the parents. It is a parental responsibility to step up to the plate and talk to your spawn about sex and the responsibilities/conseqeunces that come with it. Sure its awkward, but its better than some health teacher who can't relate to your kid reading some mundane shit out of a book.
