Black tires on pavement.

Spinning out of control in a world winding down into nothing.

Where do they take me? To the end of the road? To the end of the world? Or further?

Or, do they just stop right here and now, along with everything else.

Spinning along, carrying me with them, into a sea of hope I will never reach. The barricades of regret and remorse run rampant over this land and hold me within their clutches. They hold me fast and strong.

Now the tires are spinning but they are held in place, unable to move. They try, but to no avail. Eventually they will spin themselves out into nothing but a fabric of something that once was.

The fabric of life, once full with vitality and material. Over time, however, it has been used all up. Soon it will cease to exist and like everything else, just fade away. Just fade away.

Yet, I keep my eyes on orange horizons. Maybe someday, just someday, things will change. Maybe someday the barriers will wither away. Maybe after I am all used up and after I fade away into nothing the barriers will fall. What if they die away just like I once did?

What if, after everything has been worn out and used to its end, what if it regains life?

What will happen if the tires spin once again, no barriers to stop them, no barricades to hold them back? What if they carry me to my destination as far as the eye can see, or the mind can fathom?

Will they take me to the end of the road? Will they take me to the end of the world? Or further?

Or, will they take me just where I need to be?

Which has been right here all along.

My sea of hope is within reach.

Because... my sea of hope is in me.

And it always has been.

But, the real question is... will I be able to get there? Or will I wither away, just like everything else?

Homer: Hey, Flanders, it's no use praying. I already did the same thing,
and we can't both win.

Flanders:
Actually, Simpson, we were praying that no one gets hurt.
