I've been thinking a lot lately. Mostly because I haven't had anything else to do. A lot of random thoughts floating around in my head, clogging up my brain. I've come out of it more confused then ever. Then again, I think it's good to be confused sometimes, because when you're confused, you start thinking more and asking more questions, and that's never a bad thing. A few things in particular, though, have really stood out to me.

First, the current world condition. I'm truly torn about a lot of things. There's the war in Iraq. I know down in my heart that what the US is doing is wrong, and wrong on so many different levels. Murdering innocent people, making an already unstable environment deteriorate in to complete chaos, and thinking the US can generally do whatever the fuck we please without any repercussions. But at the same time, at an even deeper, baser level, I feel that something had to be done about September 11th. I know a lot of people will say September 11th was America's fault, and I tend to agree, but that kind of loss can't just go on ignored. I also know some people will say "Well, what about the losses in Sudan or other areas like that?" and I completely agree that something should be done about that. At the same time though, I don't think the United States should be the world's police. In truly horrible situations like the Sudanese genocide, I tend to think we should step in, but other than that, I feel we should just keep to ourselves. I just don't know how to feel.

Then there's my own personal life. My grades have been pretty sub-standard since about 7th or 8th grade (I'm now a junior in high school, for those who don't know). I get C's and D's on my report cards, but I'll usually do pretty well (A's and B's) on tests and written assignments. That is, when I bother to do them. I'm just generally conflicted about all of this high school bullshit. I find it so wrong that the four years when we're developing the most (mentally and physically) are the four years that pretty much decide the rest of our life. At least that's what I'm told. If you don't do good in high school, you won't get in to a good college, and then you won't get a good degree, and then you won't get a good job, and then you'll become impotent and lose all your hair. Or something along the lines of that.

I also find the whole school system to be laughable. This is a system that does not reward intelligence and free thinking, but rather complacence and an ability to memorize seemingly useless formulas and facts. I mean, really, when the fuck am I going to need to know the atomic weight of beryllium or how to calculate the square root of the right angle of a trapezoid? I'm a musician for fuck's sake, and I know for a fact that I will never work in the science or mathematics fields. True intelligence is not your ability to memorize formulas and facts. I don't really know what true intelligence is, I just know it's not. Some of the most brilliant minds of our time have sucked at math and/or science.

One thing I am sure about, though, is where I would like my life to go. I know most everyone says this at some point in their lives, but when I think long and hard about it, the only place I can see myself in ten years is on stage, playing music. I feel in my heart that I was meant to have some place in the music industry. But therein lies another conflict, I completely despise the music industry and the way it's set up to screw the artist and twist their views in to some mass marketed piece of shit.

I don't know what my point was, or if I even ever had one. Just take this for what it is, a confused kid trying to sort this world out.

>>>I was just pulling math sounding words out of my ass, dipshit.

You're right. I'M the dipshit. That's easy for you to say, from way over there in the corner of your circular house.

Yes, because everyone who's not exactly mathematically correct while writing something in the heat of the moment should be condemned to the short bus. Thanks for not being a prick and taking in the bigger message of my writing instead of picking it apart. Oh, wait...

The right angle of a trapezoid??

I think I see why your grades are off a bit.

Sorry, but that's not true. Most of our brilliant minds were only good at those to subjects and couldn't write down a coherent sentence. You spend too much time thinking for someone in HS. Have fun and enjoy it, beacause responsibility sucks.
