So you got a little snow in New England huh? Quit your whining kids. After years in NY and Pa.
I escaped to the sunny south and now reside in North Carolina, a.k.a. bubba land. Prepared for
warm winters and endless sunshine, little did I know the shit hits the fan here too often in the
form of icestorms.
One inch of snow last week and the kids are out of school 3 days. Grid lock in the city with a
30 minute commute taking 8 hours. That was just the warm up. This weekend comes the icestorm.
24 hours from now I'll be living in the dark, with no power for the next 3-5 days. My little
generator roaring away with extension cords strung through the house like a ticker tape parade. Cooking on a coleman camp stove, the kids bored and wanting attention, candle light dinners,
hauling wood for the fireplace while dodging tree limbs of death, bubbas skidding around in their 4 wheel drives wondering why the brakes won't stop them. The only good news is it'll be cold enough
to chill beer outside.
Give me your snow and canadian cold fronts any time. If you want a real pain in the ass winter
storm, move to North Carolina.

Four VERY different sets of weather in a 24 hour period.
Rain, sunny and dry, windy, sunny, snow, rain, etc etc...
That is what I have to look forward to in Feb and March.
