I thought my first post on Ubersite would be a witty and/or entertaining
anecdote about me getting embarrassed in a sexual/public manner.
I most definitely thought that my first post would not contain the phrase "my first post".
I was wrong.
I must reveal a charlatan in your midst.
I had the misfortune to read "The Rise and Fall of Fat Tony"
I just thought it was a poor attempt at a gangster story.
And I dismissed it as such.
Until I realized that people were taking this guy seriously.
I bit my tongue reading praise for this guy.
Even when people were admitting fear or respect for this "gangster".
However after reading the comments on the "Lauren" post and tony
rebuts to his criticism that he IS a badass. I felt it was my obligation to shed some
light on the "Fat Tony Mystique".
Organized crime IS prevalent in California.
Like the east coast it does consist of groups or 'families'.
Like the east coast these 'families' are almost always founded on the race of their members.
The forms of crime these groups (east/west) profit from seldom vary.
Examples of these are narcotics,prostitution,illegal gambling, importation of illegal aliens(by itself or for sweatshops/prostitution)
control/extortion of local business,
control/extortion of workers/unions,robbery and of course murder.
Unlike the east coast,Californians don't associate "organized crime" with the italians.
The reason for this is simple.
Italian organized crime in California is virtualy non-existent.
To us organized crime means either the Russians,Asians and Mexicans.
These three races are composed of many 'families' and often fight amongst each other, especially among the asian and mexicans.
Meaning rival asian syndicates fight against other rival asian syndicates as much as(if not more than)fighting against other ,say,mexican syndicates.
Same for the mexicans.
The Russians have mostly transcended this by being almost completely unified as a 'race'.
Both the Russians and the Asians have surpassed the Mexicans and even their east coast counterparts the Italians by being truly International.
The russians have ties to crime rings in the former soviet union and the asians are in cooperation with the triads of china(including Hong Kong)
This type of international organization is revolutionary considering the traditional model of an organized crime 'family'.
I have had the misfortune of encountering representatives of each of the above examples.
I must say that the Asians and Russians scared me far more that the Mexicans.
I am just a humble german-irish petty criminal compared to these organized juggernauts.
In my 4 year stay as a guest of the California Penal System I did time with some evil sonabitches
that belonged to the aforementioned groups. Many of them I call friends, if such a term can be given to sociopaths.
Anyway, my point.
After reading the "Rise and Fall" I assumed it was a completley fictional piece.
A west coast soprano kinda thing, but without factual merit.
Then I read some comments on various posts and it seemed people actually belived this tale.
So what.
Then it seemed the author of this story was trying to live up to this character he had created.
Well I guess after a while it just pissed me off.
As for my references to organized crime the California Department of Justice gives an annual report on the subject, if you need specific data.

Notice how all the "Cosa Nostra" books/movies/TV shows are based on the EAST coast?

Wow Ken, I'm going to have to call your bullshit on this one. The southern California crime family, (a part of La Cosa Nostra) although not a strong syndicate, is active in California. They have had several members do time in Chino pen specifically. Even though the Russians have established a strong presence in California it is still considered open territory which makes Italians welcome anywhere they hang their hat. On the other hand, just because you did a small bid in a men's colony doesn't make you an expert on the mafia. I explained in detail how it started, how it graduated and how the illegal mexicans were our key
to our crime sprees. Without the illegal mexicans our connections to drugs, prostitution, B&E
(Breaking & Entering) all dwindled. I mentioned that very clearly, had you read my rise & fall
series carefully instead of glancing over it you'd know that. I also explained in detail that the
majority of our "pull" came from gambling (bookie) and loan sharking.
Russians have overtaken Asians & Mexicans? What California do you live in? Bud the Gooks OWN
California with the Mexicans in second with Russians in a distant third.
The scariest muthafuckers in prison are Mexicans. They'll rape you before they kill you. Asian
population isn't 1/3 of what the Mexicans are.
When I wrote about my time "in" did I mention Italian ties? Did I mention how powerful my group
was? If I did, please point that out, because from what I remember of prison it was 60% Mexican
and there was only a hand full of "Woods" where Italians, Irish, Rednecks all fit in one group.
I felt that I described in exausting detail how it all started, how it gained speed and how it came
crashing down. It seems to me that you just glanced over it and read what you felt was interesting
and let your mind wonder from there.
It's not a "Character". It's me. The good, the bad, the ugly and the pathetic.
Normally I'd +2 a post against me, but the fact that you think Russians run California is just
stupid. Only Crackas who live in Cali think that. They're too proud to admit it's Gook & Wet Back
run state.

I thought dissertations were lengthy, involved, well written, well structured, factually accurate, and presented a coherant arguement for a particular case while also exploring the merits and downfalls of the counter-arguements.
