I sat nervously in my seat as the plane took off. I'd never been on one before. What seemed like my last seconds were mere mechanical chatter to the many faceless people around me, all of whom I would never see again. As I looked out the window, I watched my home land, the place of my birth, the lands that had betrayed my life, disappear underneath a quilt of clouds forever. I lifted a solitary picture from my pocket, stared her in the eyes, and whispered, "I'm coming..."

You've always been my voice of reason. You've always been my guiding light. You've always been my shoulder to cry on, even if I'd long since forgotten how. Yet in spite of this, I've never once had the chance to catch your gaze; never once felt your warm skin, nor felt your soft breath on my neck.

When people still shared their souls in a time long since forgotten, the powers that be had decided to split them up, so that every human being would spend their life attaining completion; finding their soul mate. Ours was a bond that was all but unbreakable. When the horrible division was finally completed, we were both flung in separate directions, each landing on opposite halves of the world. As fate would have it, we would never be together again. At least, those were the initial thoughts of this very pessimist.

Startled back to reality by the sound of my hand knocking on her door, I realized at that moment how very nervous I was. I've traveled as far as humanly possible to save my life, to be with her. In this hurry, however, I hadn't even let her know I was on my way, for fear she would reject me, or that I would run out of time. This was it; her daily way of life was about to be shattered.

The door slowly creaked open, and our eyes met. My stomach fluttered, as both our visions were blurred with the coming tears. I dropped my bags as we embraced for the first time, never to let go...

After hours of catching up, making fresh memories together, we retired back to her home. We sat down on her couch, without a single filthy thought in mind, perfectly content to be with each other, finally able to know how the other feels. To know the other had felt the same way about you this whole time. To know the other truly did exist.

We lay next to each other, everything seeming perfect in the world for just one second. We were wrapped in each others arms, kept warm by the thoughts we shared. Our hearts beat in unison. We were complete.

I closed my eyes.

======================

I was softly kissed awake by golden soft rays of sunshine. Their warmth was comforting, while at the same time, I dreaded the news they brought. My eyes were slowly pried open as I shook the last remaining shreds of the dream from my head. As I sat up, alone as I was the night before, a single, solemn tear fell to the ground. That is all that was left of her, and it was already gone.

I will always love you. I will never find you.

...but I'll never stop looking.

it can be difficult to focus when your blood is routed away from the brain to other ares of the body you know.

Bob: I don't listen to U2, so any titles would be completely coincidental.

Heh, now I'm curious...how many are in there?

Is this a game to find as many U2 song titles as we can in this post?
