I'm looking to start adding DVD's to my collection, but can never think of any to order when I want to. Just looking to get a list of everyone's favorite movies (except for porn...I have everything). I'm really looking for unusual or not very well known movies. If it's not a very well known movie, just give a brief explanation of plot.

A little movie called "Happiness." It's a comedy about incest, murder, rape, and adultery. Stars a bunch of people who have had smaller parts in larger movies. Phillip Seymor Hoffman is the biggest name in it. You'll feel dirty while laughing at it.

2 I have seen recently and never heard of before:

May - the story of May Canaday - very dark movie but that is all the explanation you get.
Chopper - the story of Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read - starrring Eric Bana

Both good movies and a little left of the main stream.

"Bongwater" is worth checking out, if only for the scene with Jack Black and his merry band of freaks on acid in the woods.

I also agree with this statement. Andy Dick is great in this movie.

There's a movie called "Panic" with William H. Macy and Donald Sutherland that's pretty good, also "Suicide Kings" with Christopher Walken. "Ghost World" is a great Buscemi film. For a classic, check out "Touch of Evil" with Orson Wells and Charlton Heston. "Super Troopers" is hit or miss - I've never met someone who didn't like it and it's gathering a larger following, if you haven't seen it it's fucking hilarious. I like all John Cusack movies, so if you've missed any of the following: "Better Off Dead", "One Crazy Summer", "Say Anything", "High Fidelity", "Grosse Pointe Blank", or "Being John Malcovich" than you should see them.

Also "Adaptation" with Nicolas Cage kicks ass.

There's a pretty good possibility you've seen most of these.

Suicide Circle - Japanese movie about an epidemic of teen suicide. It opens with a class of Japanese schoolgirls joining hands, counting to three, and throwing themselves onto a subway track. Incredibly funny movie if you have a sadistic sense of humor. It was directed by a guy who usually directs gay Japanese porn. Apparently in Japan, directing gay porn doesn't hold you back from a mainstream career.

Battle Royale - another Japanese movie, sorry. Continuing with what seems to be a popular theme over there: school kids killing each other. This one is about a class of 42 junior high kids who are kidnapped by the government and taken to an island. Once there, they're each issued a weapon - ranging from machine guns to pot lids - and instructed to kill until only one is left. You would have to order this one. Because of the subject matter, it never got an official release here, but it's readily available with English subtitles.

Martin - And if you're not into subtitles, there's this rare vampire movie from George Romero. This is the most modern vampire movie ever. Martin has no powers. He has to subdue his victims by injecting them with sedatives, and draw blood with a razor blade because he has no fangs. He may be an actual vampire or he may be a lunatic, it's up to you. He's sent to live with his elderly cousin who tells Martin that he will save his soul and then destroy him. Good movie, very violent, and funny as well.

Here's 5 quick ones.

1. Mulholland Dr. --- just....yeah
2. Week-End --- french film-noir by Jean-Luc Godard. About a couple who wants to vacation in the country but it is completely fucked up......very cool movie. Highly recommended
3. Dog Day Afternoon --- Early Pacino at its finest
4. Rosemary's Baby --- Both genius and horrifying. A must-have for any DVD collection.
5. Blown Away --- the one with the Coreys...not Jeff Bridges. Why? Naked Nicole Eggert!

That's fine for you, Marge. But I used to rock and roll all night and
party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can
find half an hour a week in which to get funky. I've got to get out of
this rut and back into the groove!
