All I want to know is why the fuck are indians still getting what they want? Free schooling, they can hunt and fish out of season, they don't have to pay taxes...etc. etc. What the fuck is this shit? Shouldn't black people be getting all this shit too? After all, we enslaved them up until recently in history.
Why does the Canadian government feel it is necessary that indians keep getting their cocks stroked by people that actually go to work and aren't drug addicts and alcoholics. The fact that my tax money is going toward some fucking indian sitting on the couch drinking beer makes me sick.
Call me racist, I don't fucking care...I live in a city with an indian reservation just outside the city limits. These people for the most part are fucking lazy useless drunks. They should be cut off from every benefit they are being provided with and start being treated like everyone else in Canada. Maybe they'd actually learn to get a fucking job. Fuck em.

Sadly, I speak from experience. Goddamnit, why should I be the one to "deal with it if the indians around me are drunk and depressing"? Why shouldn't they deal with it and become productive members of society.
And it's true of my native friends as well, that they know all this gov't assistance is bullshit. The approach of halting the excessive assistance would absolutely work, demonstrated by the fact that the majority of natives who educate themselves and become successful, productive Canadians are the ones who don't accept handouts from the government.

This is something that, although unfortunate, and although you had no part in directly, is not "fixed" in a generation. Try to be a man, and try to use your head to understand that these people need help.

Let's assume the above is correct. The native Indians needed help. In my view, we did not help them. We took a bad situation and made it worse. That's right; we poured gasoline on the fire. Establishing reservations and giving the Indians houses, welfare, free education, free this and free that... was NOT the way to help them. Somehow we had to help them back to a place where they had independence -- yet were still challenged. I don't know about anyone else here but one of the best feelings I get is after a hard days work! I'm tired but I feel like I've accomplished something. The smarter and stronger native Indians have found a way out of the downward spiral. Look at those Indians that work on the tall buildings and sky-scrapers. There are some highly talented Native artists, musicians and even hockey players.
I guess my main point is that you don't help someone by killing his/her motivation. I think that the various levels of government would do well to keep and maintain the social programs for those Indians (and non-Indians) who really really need them. However, there are many instances where a "cruel to be kind" stance is called for. I look forward to a time when the North American Indians are once again a proud people with a strong sense of self worth.

my grandmother had to go through the whole residentual (correct spelling) school thing, and thats harsh, she deserves to get whatever benifits she can get.
secondly i dont like the fact that most naitives are drunks and are mooching off the government, but now it is impossible to escape that life. Ive grown up in a naitive town and most people were alcoholics ( my father bieng one of them) and all the kids see are drunks and bums and thats the only option that they know, barely any people are helping to help fix the problem. MOst likely alot of the kids are going to grow up like thier parents and its not thier fault, its all they know. luckily i have been able to escape that shithole of an existance.
but its now all our fault were so fucked up, somebody pushed us. we had a great way of living. taking only what we needed to survive and living on the land. As i recall the eropeans brought over alcohol, and ideals such as land ownership, money and taking all you could for yourself ( and little clothes laced with smallpox to be distributed to the indians)

I agree. My ancestors came to my home state almost 75 years after the indians
had been displaced from here. I had nothing to do with it.
Anyway, they defeated other tribes and took their land long

There was a Canadian chick working in my office down here in California a while back... and every time I mentioned Indians (in discussing casinos and shit) she got all politically correct and insisted that Canadian Indians be called 'aboriginals.'
I said, what the fuck, American Indians just call themselves Indians, and most people respect that heritage without thinking it is a derogatory term.

I beg to differ. *I* never raped or killed anyone, and I was born here. It's my country just as much as anyone else's. I do believe that indians who were made to live at residential schools should be compensated for that cruelty and ignorance, but face it: Most who are alive now weren't. Most of my friends and I are scrambling for tuition money, and natives don't have to pay shit for college. Although my (native) friend has a theory on why the gov't pays for natives to go to college: "No native will ever go to college, so they're not losing any money."

Yeah, I know how you feel. In CA, seems like theres a Native American casino every 5 miles. Thing is, its only recently that certain Native Americans have enterprised enough to become wealthy with widespread casino / resorts. Until then, we accorded Native Americans land, didn't tax them, and sort of left em to their own devices.
As for black people, they were taken from their homeland and enslaved by numerous nations, not just us. In the end, they worked to achieve somewhat of equality. Native Americans, on the other hand, were displaced from the land they inhabited, and if they weren't slaughtered or killed by disease, accorded tiny reserved spots of shitty land and given special situational living rules.
