She goes because she knows he will be there. She just wants to look at him. In cases like this, usually a girl will dress in form-flattering clothes, put on some make-up, do her hair in a way that frames her face well. But she does none of this. She doesn't want him to notice her. She doesn't want him to look.
That would ruin everything.
She likes the way she can sit quietly on the couch and watch him. She works hard at staying quiet. It's a stretch for a verbose, flighty, young thing like her, but it's worth it. Each moment his attention is focused on someone else, is one more moment she can watch him uninterrupted.
She loves the way his hair never lays quite right. She loves the way he makes piercing eye contact with whomever he speaks to. She loves his body language. The way he seems to be excited and relaxed all at once. How his cheeks flush as he discusses the injustice of the world. How there seems to be passion right under the surface. How well he muffles it with his quiet demeanor. She knows him better than some who have known him for years.
Because she watches him.
There is a part of her that wished his gaze would turn to her. That those eyes would look into hers. That he'd tell her his secrets. That he'd show her his passion. That she'd have a chance to return it in full. She has it too, under the surface, like his.
But there is something too special about what she has already, and she is afraid to change anything. If she spoke to him, he'd look at her. If he looked at her, she would be captive to his searching gaze. And she knows she would never be able to look back.
Maybe it's just fear that stops her tongue. Too afraid to break the spell. Too enchanted to believe he's real. No one is truly as they seem. Not when they seem this perfect. If anything happened, she'd see his flaws. She doesn't want to see them. She wants him to stay as he is. Glorified.
She needs to believe he's perfect.
So she sips her wine, and leans back in her chair as she looks at him.
She just wants to look at him.

This backs up my thoughts that women are very complicated. I'm a man, aside from physical pain and sheer joy, I dont have emotions.
Well written.

Meanwhile back in reality:
Steve Smith goes to a restaurant to meet with his friends. He was recently released from Prison after having served a 7 year stint on Manslaughter charges, something he regrets but when a female stalker broke into his home and claimed to of been there just to watch him sleep, he awoke in a panic when she sneezed and as a matter of instinct he lopped off her head with a samurai sword.
While serving his term he was attacked in the shower by Jimmy Peas who hit him over the head with a frozen rack of ribs. This caused Steve to lose his hearing, which is why he is always intently staring at the lips of people who engage him in conversation.
To this day, despite all of his therapists attempts to help him, Steve has issues with people that sit there and stare. At his parole hearing he couldn't help but feel the eyes of the female bailiff on the back of his head and the first thing he did after being released was to purchase a novelty samurai sword from a pawn shop. As he crept into the living room of the bailiff's home his face flushed with excitement, her head was hewn and Steve got a hankering for some drinks down at the diner.
There's nothing better than ignorant infatuation. It's not until we we find out who someone really is that we remember how much people suck.

You would need a wide-angle lens to get a spycam for jgreening.

Once you find something good about a person, everything changes. Sometimes, they're no longer a "person" but a whole ideal that has to be treasured.
I know the feeling well.
Well written. I liked it+2
