It is a well known fact that a buffalo herd can only move as fast as the slowest member. When the herd is hunted, the ones which run the slowest (the old or weak ones) end up at the back. These ones at the back are generally the ones that get killed. This is part of natural selection - the old and weak get killed, overall improving speed and health of the herd.
Similarly, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. It is a well known fact that drinking alcohol kills brain cells. So, we could assume by following the same logical process, that it is going to be the weakest cells that get killed. Therefore, the weakest, least efficient cells are the ones which get killed, improving the overall performance of your brain.
This is why you always feel smarter after having a few beers.

as soon as i see a herd of brain cells go stampeding across the plains being picked off by predators, i will bow to your logic.
oh, and claire1- brain cells are nerve cells. nerve cells do not grow back. this is why paralyzed people don't get better. just a wee bit o' medical trivia.
