Dear Naery,
I'd first like to thank you for that deeply moving insight into the English language. I'm sure THE MASKED MACABRE greatly appreciates you stepping up to plate and defending his honor. He no doubt had this 'literary device' in mind when he started posting his inane, trivial, and outright boring series of posts about fighting God and a forthcoming apocalypse.
In addition, I hope your students know that they are being taught by an anal retentive, better-than-thou know-it-all who likes to spew Shakespeare quips (oh, and I'm only assuming you were referring to the 'multitudinous tongue' quote from Coriolanus) at those less learned.
Am I the being the bearer of a double-standard by saying this? Perhaps. But my original intention was to make this MASKED MACABRE fellow shut his mouth. You, on the other hand, just wanted to sound smart and fell better about yourself.
Good job. I'm proud of you. You have proved me wrong and now you can go back to giving out detentions and sipping coffee in the Teacher's Lounge so you can once again feel superior to those around you.

You keep referring to 'THE macabre' when in fact, you only make yourself sound even dumber. It's like saying 'bow to the comfortable' or 'stare deep into the swanky.'

Someone just showed their complete lack of a grasp of the English language. Placing a definite article in front of an adjective is a literary device used to refer to all things pertaining to said adjective. For example: "We are the weak." --or, conversely-- "We are the strong." Just so we are clear on this, "weak" and "strong" are both adjectives.
There's also a huge, long thing about adjectives acting as nouns when they are direct objects, but it's late and I don't want to get into it.
In other words, **YOU** are a complete dumbass. You are one of the multitudinous dumb. (That's another example.)
(It's also a rip-off of Shakespeare, but I don't expect you to recognize the reference, so I can feel confident in using it.)
If you feel the need to dispute that, I think it can be found in the Bedford® Handbook. If it's not there, then it's one of the text books that I use for the English classes that I teach.

Hey, you know what. My cousin is in a band. They put out an album called "Dance Macabre." I think it is some sort of wierd 80's retro kind of stuff.
You might look at moving in that sort of a direction when you realize that this stuff is really, really fucking stupid.
By the way, if you ARE ushering in the end of the world and all that stuff, could I get some sort of a time-frame on that? I've really just got a lot of shit going on, so it would be helpful to be able to sort of, you know, plan for it. Schedule around it. That kind of thing.
