It is Friday, 5:11PM in Denver colorado as I am writing this.
At 5:05PM I got a call from my boss, asking me to stay away from my site for the weekend, and schedule a meeting with my HR manager Monday morning.
I was told this was regarding an investigation at my site about internet pornography.
The ONLY FUCKING THING AT WORK I HAVE OPENED UP WITH ANY SORT OF PORNOGRAPHY WAS YOUR GOD DAMN OPTICAL ILLUSION POST!
THE ONLY FUCKING THING.
And when I opened THAT, I had a tenant walking by my desk, and he saw it as I closed it!
I swear to god, if that shitfuck post of your cost me my job because you didn't NSFW the fuck out of it, you will never get to the end of what I want to beat out of you.
I love this fucking job.
I am GREAT at this fucking job.
This company was going to be my CAREER.
In 4-5 years, it had the mark of "EXPERIENCE MAKER" for a job in PD.
And if I lose this all because I trusted that a post without NSFW was SAFE FOR WORK, I swear I will end you.
This might cost me my trip to Vegas.

Traffic warrants don't constitute a criminal offense.
Basically, this is their way of making sure I get my ass back to court to clear up outstanding unpointed tickets.
I even checked a few weeks ago, and there is no mention of any arrest or booking.

I received word today, I am fired for "Gross Misconduct - Personal Use of Company Property"
They understood about the pic and everything, but they were not happy about using the computer for things like Uber, booking my flight, etc.

For future reference:
Block the images with your browser when you're on Ubersite. With Mozilla I can simply choose to block the images from the domain stuff.ubersite.com (where the attachments come from), and the images will be blocked. After I've determined that an image is safe to view by reading some of the reviews, I can right-click the image area and select "View Image". With Internet Explorer, you may not be able to block the images site-by-site, and you may not even be able to right click and view and image because, well, IE tends to suck like that.

Just because an image isn't on the computer monitor, doesn't necessarily mean that the image is already loaded into the browser cache. Great, nobody can see it over your shoulder. It also had to pass through a network that is probably monitored loosely to get to the said browser cache.

That said, you obviously don't know that much about network monitorig, as it can only (unless we're talking gigs of disk space wiped daily) record the names of images, and not the content. Not to mention having to pay someone to look at everyone's porn....this is something most companies won't do. Images from the internet usually won't set off alerts unless someone observes behavior that makes them suspicious or your other network usage is suspicious. Therefore, my point stands. It IS better to have a NSFW in the body and the image in question 3 screens down than to have a thong first thing on the screen.
While both are irresponsible, one is much more so.

The thing is about the difference between people like circe and electro is that you can guess that a boob post will have boobs in it. Electro posts generally have little to no adult content (he abbreviates "fuck you" to "FU" to avoid a ban, for Chrissakes) and his title was "Optical illusion". Electro often makes stupid puzzles for people to work on, so one could safely assume it was a SFW puzzle. It fucking wasn't. I don't care much for Electro myself, but, i understand how he didn't think a bathing suit photo was porn or offensive.
You people need to realize that we don't all work in an office setting and may be unfamiliar with the boundaries of what will get you into trouble.
I do not think Electro tried to pull an intentional leave out the NSFW like so many people do.

Listen, the system that monitors the internet at your work or anywhere has no idea WHAT the picture is, all it knows is that it is a .jpg, that's it. If something came up that you are accessing porn, it is from a web site address, not a picture.
Just claim there is spyware on your comptuer and it brings up porno pop-ups. They can't fire you for that and everyone has had that happen to them.

THink of it this way: Would you be allowed to pin that picture up in your cubicle? If no, then it's NSFW. Now obviously some jobs are going to be a bit more strict than others, which is why it's better to err on the safe side and NSFW anything that could be remotely considered pornographic. Hell, even from a completely different point of view, posts marked NSFW are almost immediately guaranteed more htis than a post not marked NSFW. That post shoulda been marked NSFW. Admit it.

It is still tough to not come across porn accidentally. More than once I have opened a NSFW post that wasn't marked as such with a teacher sitting right next to me. These posts will often freeze on the screen, too. Luckily, I've never been caught.
