http://www.ubersite.com/m/49806 Part 2
--------------

"Look Jonny, I can't take you back with me. I'm pretty sure Lenny has already found out what's happened. There's no telling what he's going to do with me, but that's for me to worry about. He'll probably kill you if you come back."

"Jonny scared. I don't wanna be by myself."

I couldn't believe I was trying to coax the fear out of a seven foot tall grown man. He has the muscle to kill any man with his bare hands, yet he's worried about me leaving him.

My cellphone vibrated against my leg. It was almost 7 AM. I had to be back to Lenny's by 8, so he's probably calling me to bitch about what just happened. I pulled the phone off of my belt-loop and looked at the incoming call screen.

It's my parents' house.

"Hello?", I said as Jonny adjusted the radio.

"Justin?"

"Dad? Hey..."

I hadn't told anyone back home that I had quit my job. I hadn't been to my apartment in weeks, so he probably just found out that I'm gone. Could I actually tell him what I'm doing for a living now? No, of course not.

"Justin, is everything okay? Where are you? I haven't heard from you in weeks! Where have you been?"

"Well.. uh... I'm visiting a friend. I'm in Florida right now. Sorry I didn't call you to let you know. It was a spur of the moment decision. I've had so much fun hanging out on the beach with my friends that time passed me by. I'll be back in a few days though."

"Oh thank God. At least you're okay. You enjoy yourself, son. Your mom and I love you."

"Love you too. Bye."

I focused my attention back on Jonny as I placed my phone back on my waist. I let out a small laugh as I noticed he was singing along to Britney Spears.

I pulled onto the exit ramp that takes me straight into my town. As I drove, a small idea came to me. It's one of those ideas that's so obvious that you don't even think about it until the last minute.

"Jonny, I'm going to take you to my apartment and let you stay there while I report to Lenny. After he pays me the remaining money from the job, we'll figure out what I need to do with you."

"Do you have cable?", he smirked.

"Yes."

"Do you get Sponge Bob?"

I smiled. "Yes Jonny, you can watch Sponge Bob."

I pulled into my apartment complex. It felt weird being there, but I had a sense of home when I pulled into my old parking spot. I stepped out and walked up the pathway to my door, Jonny following closely behind me. I unlocked and pushed the door open, then stepped inside. I took in the familiar smell of the place as Jonny jumped onto the couch.

"Leather! Jonny likes leather!"

"Jonny, listen to me. Listen really carefully..."

"Okay, Jonny listening."

"Don't answer the door or phone. If you hear anybody knocking, keep quiet. Go into my bedroom and watch TV. Use my bathroom. I've got food in the fridge. Do not, for any reason, leave this apartment."

"Jonny got it", He lifted his heavy body off the couch and walked briskly into my room, ducking his head to avoid hitting the low door frame.

I gave my living-room of the small apartment one last look before exiting, making sure to lock the door behind me.

15 minutes later, I pulled into the driveway of Lenny's huge mansion. Outside were two large white men, both in suit and tie. Between them stood Lenny, who eyed me the entire time I was pulling into the driveway.

I turned off the car and stepped out. I looked down at my hands, which were noticeably shaking. I quickly shoved them into my pockets as I began to walk slowly toward Lenny.

Why was I so nervous? I did the delivery to the best of my ability, it wasn't my fault that Jonny lost his cool and jumped in the car with me when I was trying to get away.

"Hi Lenny."

He grunted. "Follow me."

He turned his back and walked into his home. He sat down in his recliner. I took the liberty to sit on the couch across from him.

"Arthur called me this morning."

My eyes widened.

"I... uh..."

"He said the delivery went smooth."

I let out a sigh of relief.

"Except for one minor problem. He says you took Jonny with you after the big lug punched him out. Is this true?"

"Well, he jumped in my car before I could do anything about it.. and..."

"Don't worry. The busted back windshield of the car tells me how Arthur felt about it. I have to give you credit, kid-- you passed the test. All I need you to tell me is where you took Lenny and we'll take care of him."

I couldn't tell Lenny that I was housing Jonny at my place, I actually do have a heart.

"I dropped him off at a gas station back in Mobile. He's long gone."

"Good, that's what I wanna hear. Get rid of the small problem before it becomes a big problem."

I smiled. "Yes sir."

"I didn't expect you to make it back alive, but congratulations kid. You're part of the family now."

I prepared to humbly accept his speech, but paused when he mentioned that he didn't think I'd make it back alive.

"Wait... you expected me to get killed??"

"Of course I did. All of our first time delivery guys get killed by Arthur. You're the first one to make it back alive. He's a tough client to deal with."

"So, what does this mean?"

"It means you're in. You passed the test."

I put my trust in a man that didn't expect to ever see me again after that delivery. My anger was raging inside, but I couldn't let him see it.

Jonny stood up and directed me to follow him back outside. We stopped in front of the Lexus that I had been driving all night.

"This car, she's yours. But that back window ain't my problem, you gotta get it fixed yourself kid. Here's your money, I'll get in touch with you when I need you again."

He handed me a stack of bills, which I placed in my jacket pocket along with the money he had given me before I even left.

I started the car and slowly backed out of the driveway. I eyed Lenny every few seconds. I tried to concentrate on the weeks of fun I could have with the money I had. I didn't have to work for a while.

Just as the tail-end of my car reached the end of the driveway, Lenny threw his arm up and motioned for me to come back. I sighed as I threw the car into first and slowly crept back up to him. I rolled down my window as he ducked to me.

"Told you I'd get in touch with you if I needed you again."

"What do you need?"

"Now that you're working for me, I have to keep tight tabs on who you talk to. I mean, you're the new guy, if you rat me out, I'm fucked for life. Don't worry, you haven't fucked up yet, but somebody's sticking their nose where they shouldn't."

"Who?"

The next words out of his mouth came in slow motion.

"Your pops."

"What does my dad have to do with any of this?"

"You see, I have guys that have been tracking your phonecalls for the past 24 hours. This morning, you received a call from your ol' dad. I don't know what was said, but I'm not taking any chances. He has to be taken out."

My jaw dropped. "No! You can't...that's my family!!"

He pulled a gun out of his jacket and smiled as he stroked it.

"This should do the trick."

"No! Please don't! Don't kill my father!"

"Calm down kid, I never said I was going to kill your pops."

I let out a long sigh of relief.

"You're not going to kill him?"

"Of course not. I could never do that to you."

I wiped my forehead. "Wow, you scared me for a second..."

"You are."

He tossed the gun across from me and into my passenger seat. I gripped onto the steering wheel, frozen from shock.

"Here's the deal-- tonight, you're going to do the job. I have ways of finding out if you chickened out on me. Don't fuck up. Now get out of here before I change my mind and decide to kill YOU."

I stomped on the gas and flew out of the driveway, speeding all the way back to my apartment.

I can't do this. This is crazy. Maybe if I call him and tell him that I want out, he'll let me out. It's not like I mean anything to him, I only made one delivery.

I picked up my phone and dialed Lenny's number.

"Hey Lenny, I can't do it. I want out."

"Don't make this mistake, kid."

"I can't kill my own dad. Are you nuts?! I want out. That's it, I'm done."

I closed the phone shut as I pulled into my apartment building parking lot. I quickly made my way up the walkway and tried to fumble with my keys as my neighbor, Amanda, approached me.

I had always had a crush on Amanda. She used to come over all the time to watch movies with me, then fall asleep in my arms. We never even kissed, namely because I had always been to scared to make a move. She was drop dead stunning, too beautiful for me to even dream of making a move on.

"Hey Justin! I'm out of sugar, do you mind if I borrow some?"

"Um.. no.. I don't mind... come on in..", I managed to say in a shakey voice.

"What's wrong? You sound stressed out."

"Rough day", I pushed the door of my apartment open.

"Where is it?"

"In the kitchen on top of the refrigerator. Help yourself. I'm going to go into my room and make a phone call, I'll be right back."

I walked into my room and shut the door. The TV was on and Spongebob Squarepants was on. Jonny wasn't on the bed, but the bathroom door of my room was shut. I assumed he was doing his business.

"I'm home, Jonny", I said as I picked up my phone off the dresser. I couldn't use my cellphone because Lenny had somehow been tracking my calls. Thank God I never told him where I live, so hopefully he won't be able to find me.

I dialed my dad's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey, dad! Listen to me.. I don't have time to explain, just trust me on this... you need to get out of the house now! Go somewhere safe, like a hotel or something. Make sure nobody follows you, and if they are, call the police..."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Just trust me... You need to..."

Before I could finish my sentence, a blood curdling scream in the form of Amanda filled the entire apartment. Without thinking, I threw the phone down and ran into the living room where she was standing-- shaking.

"What the hell happened? Are you okay?"

"Justin! Please don't hurt me! Please... "

"What are you talking about??"

"I won't tell anybody about the dead guy... just please don't hurt me... please!!"

She began sobbing uncontrollably.

I turned my head toward the entrance of the kitchen. There at the entrance lay Jonny's head, bullet hole right through the forehead. His blood puddle covering the kitchen floor and part of the living room floor.

My heart dropped.

My cellphone rang again. I slowly raised it and looked at the caller ID screen. "Lenny calling". I flipped it open.

"H....h...hello?"

"See what happens when you don't listen to me? You and the girl are next."

<click>

I dropped the phone and looked at Amanda.

"I had nothing to do with this, I swear!"

"I don't care... just don't hurt me!"

"C'mon Amanda! Think straight! Do you honestly think I'd bring you into my house and point you to the kitchen if I knew I had a fucking dead body in there?!"

"I don't know! I'm so confused!"

"You're confused?! You have no fucking idea what's about to happen. You have to come with me. NOW!"

"What?"

"I work for a drug king. I just left him today. He did this. I don't know how he knows where I live, but he's obviously got somebody watching th place. He knows about you. He said he's going to kill both of us. We have to leave NOW!"

"I'm not... I can't... I have to go to work..."

"NOW! GET THE FUCK OUT OR HE'LL KILL YOU!!!"

I grabbed her hand and ran out of my apartment, not even bothering to close my door behind me. Amanda jumped into the passenger side of my car as I cranked it and took off down the road. I had to head to my dad's before Lenny got to him.

Amanda stayed quiet the entire time, her eyes staring off into the distance. Poor girl. She's now a target just because she needed sugar. It's my job to protect her.

I pulled into my dad's residential neighborhood and quickly turned onto his road.

Wait, something's not right. Why is there a black car parked outside my dad's house? Oh no.

I slowly crept up behind the car and parked.

"Stay here, Amanda."

I jumped out and ran through the front yard. By the time I hit the front porch, I heard a gun shot from inside.

Then another. Then another.

And one more.

"Nooooo!!!!!!!", I screamed at the top of my lungs, then dropped to my knees.

To be continued.

Almost gave you a +1 because mixing the characters names almost confused me, but I guess it was easy enough to figure out.

This was very good, but a let down from the first two, which I thought were truly kickers of all ass. I hope you do continue the series though.

Actually, Banga:

I'm writing the story as I go. Before I wrote this third part, I had no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go with the story-- hence why it takes several months for me to post each part.

Unfortunately, after I wrote the second part, I was just going to give up on the story, namely because I couldn't think of anywhere else for the plot to go. I went back earlier tonight and read the reviews on some of my posts, and on EVERY post I've written since discontinuing the Late Night Delivery series, there's always at least one user asking about when I'm going to continue it.

Ubersite users seem to like where the story is going, and for this I thank all of you. One of the reasons I discontinued it is because everyone set high expectations for the series. Thankfully, I got an idea or two in my head tonight and just went with it.

The series should be coming along more frequently now.

Sorry for the long wait. Also, if you have any ideas where you'd like the story to go-- please contact me: SideburnsIAm on aim.

Thank you for reading my material.

Thank you for continuing this story. I'm willing to bet that you have the entire book already written but are just giving us small chapters every 6 months just to fuck with us. As always, great plot twist and I'll be anxiously waiting for the next installment. Fine work sir.
