If you read my reviews of this post's predecessor you'll see that as I conservative, I actually accepted most of these points. Even though I was raised on the right, my family was always open minded. I never liked the Christian-right (though we still like their votes); I never liked the anti-gay marriage, anti-abortion, anti-freedom sides of my party. My basics principle is that I would always rather have my freedom and live with its dangers than live in a controlled, strict society. I am also strongly fiscally conservative, which is what I want this compromise to focus on. Suggestions:
1. See the plus side of large corporations, they give people jobs, they are big because they are efficient, they provide people with things they may not be able to afford.
2. Now that we're starting to see that freedom may stand a chance in the Middle East (even I had my doubts) lets unite together and stop this war-for-oil, Bush is evil, nonsense.
3. Stop your liberal school administrators from instituting these nonsense zero-tolerance policies. Even though I don't think mainstream liberals support this, school officials tend to be liberal so they're your responsibility.
4. We all think and know that guns kill people. We don't want people like Osama and Fifty-Cent to have guns. But gun-control laws only disarm gun-owners that care about laws like gun control. Guns are fun, trying shooting one sometime.
5. Stop being so hostile to religion. I'm not very religious but having the ten-commandments in a courthouse or saying god in court or school doesn't really mean that we live in a church-run state.
What you can have:
1. Gays can do what they want.
2. Pregnant girls can do what they want.
3. You can still worship FDR.
4. You can still let your protesters run around without bras or shaven armpits.
5. New England (we don't really want it)

For every positive side there is to a large corporation, there is a hidden negative side that is twice as powerful.

1. See the plus side of large corporations, they give people jobs, they are big because they are efficient, they provide people with things they may not be able to afford.
-----
I don't view that as an advantage of corporations at all. The people who are better off as a result of corporations are the ones running them. The fact that people get jobs from corporations or that corporations provide people with a living wage aren't arguments FOR anything. Slavery in the South also guaranteed everybody the right to work and the right to shelter, food etc. Is that an argument for slavery? It was actually used by the South as an argument: we OWN our slaves so we naturally take better care of them, the North simply rents their slaves so they don't need to worry about them. The idea was that slaves were property and people tend to protect and care for their own property. That was the argument laid out by many slaveholding Southerners and, although certainly no justification for slavery, it's essentially where this same rationale is coming from.
For example, I'm sure someone will counter with "without corporations we wouldn't have all the things we have, you wouldn't be on a computer" etc. It's absurd to think that because a standard of living rises in a country that the country must be on the right track. To bring back the analogy to slavery, slaves in the 18th century were considerably better off than slaves in the 17th century - of course, this is no justification for slavery. Nazi Germany had a booming economy by the time World War II rolled around. No justification for Nazism. The USSR had shown that it was possible to modernize a country within a generation. No justification for the atrocities of the Soviet Union. Walmart has cheap shoes? Apparently, that justifies 50 years of American foreign policy.

Forget the fringe for a second. I'd be willing to trade the points in the other post for these. With some caveats:
1) Ok, but don't let them run/ruin the country. And remember that big business doesn't like small business, which is the best way for "ordinary" people to create wealth.
2) Ok, horse is out of the barn on this one. But let's hold off on Iran until we finish paying for Iraq, ok? And we'd better be right next time, remember this wasn't originally about freedom & democracy.
3) Nope. Religious freedom, one of the founding principles of the country.

I disagree with #3 though. I think you are going a little overboard in saying that most school administrators are liberal (proof?). (My father is a school administator and he is as republican as you can get) If it is anyones fault that these things have gotten so extreme it is because of the media.

I think that all of us (myself included) are getting a little too wrapped up in the severe sides of both partys. It seems that most of us are moderates yet in the current political climate all we have for candidates are those who tend to lean very far right or left.
