I had pretty much resolved to stop posting on this site. Before today, I hadn't so much as rated a post in almost 2 weeks, which is the longest such stretch since I've been coming here. I thought I at least owed you guys updates on the progress of this project, so here it is...
"Stay Away" was done last night. I was feeling a bit pensive when I recorded it, so I think that explains the way it came out.
Strange...it seems like just a couple weeks ago this project was started, but it's been four months now. Alot of things have happened in that time - some I could have done without, and some that were truly wonderful. I guess that's life for ya - always seems to balance itself out.
I can see why people never try to remake an entire album now.
It's not going to make too many people happy. If they know the original they will always compare. If they are die-hard fans of the original, they'll hate you for it, and even if they like your version better, you will always carry this stigma of not having actually written the songs yourself.
Personally, I don't care about any of that anymore. I do what I feel like doing and that's it. It's like a wise man (Ricky Nelson) once said: "It's all right now, I've learned my lesson well. You see, you can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself."
So, here's the song - and like anything else I do...you can take it or you can leave it...

bad ass ets... i agree though, you should look into doing some tougher shit, maybe some more acoustics? i know it's tough recording it all yourself, and making it sound good... but just a thought...

real music for a god damned change! some of the trash out there needs to be stripped raw like this, but then the teeny-boppers wouldn't part with their hard cash, would they.

I really liked the pensive quality this had.
It's a shame if you're not going to do "In Bloom," because I think you'd do a good job of it.
I copied all of these onto my mp3 player, and listen to them regularly.

Thanks for understanding, Caul. You're right about the nakedness. That's exactly what it's like.

It sucks when a musician takes himself too seriously. There is just no right way to respond to any of this. I am not going to sit and pretend that it doesn't matter to me when it does. "
At least you're honest. I understand the feeling. That's why I never play in front of people (or avoid at least avoit to). You play with your guts so it feels like being naked in front of a jury. The only difference between an artist and an amateur with a hobby it's that the artist will keep on regardless of what others think. I'm in the latter category =)

I am fucking done. As of right now, I don't even want to even consider doing any more of these... Honestly, why should I?
When I think of all the hours of my life that have been essentially wasted on this project, it makes me sick.

yeah, it makes sense to me BOB. and i respect that. i know i have tastes in music that are quite different from the norm. but there is a sense of ignorance in some of the ratings. when a musician is setting out a rfc, they are wanting true criticism. they dont want a canned response like "your music sucks" or "this isnt as good as <insert band name here>".
one contrasting point. we never complain about the auto +2s. i find auto +2s just as disturbing, but they are easier to deal with.

Who cares what music other people listen to? If some dumbass wants to listen to crap, let 'em. What's to say that that same dumbass doesn't think that what's in your play list isn't crap?
Does that make any sense?

i dont think ets is trying to get pissy because you dont like his music. the real reason is because, yeah...you people are morons. you have no true musical taste. there are a few exceptions to that of course, but as a whole you're a bunch of metal fuckwits who only get enjoyment out of musical masturbation (aka thrashy solos), corporate cookie cutter crap, and dead cliches (and yes that can include the dead).
more than anything, i think he gets pissed when people give negative ratings because its "not as good as the original", "you made nirvana gay", "because i have a personal grudge against you and like to argue on the internet", etc.
people, if you are going to rate something based on the fact its not as cool as your latest slipknot album, or it will never be as cool as tool...just dont. opinions are one thing, but uneducated, musically-retarded opinions just make you look like a fool.

Falconer: Take your pick. Not exactly thrashy guitars, but if you wait till the end of the second song there you'll get an idea what I can do solo-wise. These were done about a year or so ago when I was jamming with a couple other guys. I wrote both of these songs.

I used to be in a speed metal band when I was younger. Long story short...it got old. There is only so much you can be angry for, and at some point it becomes just as pretentious feeling as anything else... So here I am now, spilling my innermost guts all over this website for apparently no reason at all.

I know my fair share about music, and the only thing I hate about it is people who take themselves too seriously. The <A>rtists.
"So everyone who holds the opinion that your music is shit is a stupid fuck? Grow up, dude. I haven't even listened to this one yet, and now I'm not going to just because of your little temper tantrum and the opening of the post. Either hike up your skirt or get out.
Jesus."

The musical illiteracy of this site never ceases to fucking amaze me. In my opinion, you are all a bunch of mewling retards who wouldn't know real music if it walked up, bashed you on the head, and raped you in the ass.
Go listen to some commercial radio and get spoon-fed your fucking Hoobastank and Puddle of Mudd like the rest of the zombified cookie-cutter civilization that surrounds you.
Note to self: don't post anymore music for these stupid fucks on this site.

Nirvana is good because they sound like fucking Nirvana. Otherwise, their lyrics are nonsensical and their guitar work is decent at best. Pick a better band to cover.

Hard to do jazz when you're laying 90% of the tracks yourself. I do have one jazzy song with a lot of weird chords you probably never even heard of recorded. I might post it next week or something.

Well it's obvious you're a good musician. I'd like to see what you could do with something a little more "challenging" than Nirvana. Ever try jazz? Post doom metal? Yeah!
