The cancer is winning. Can you feel it? Can you see it when you look at me? Can you tell at a glance? Sick at first sight. My blood is black inside my viens.
Today, oh today. I knew it was coming. I felt it's tendrils reaching inside me. The grip tightened with every breath I fought to take. You cannot stop time. Time stops for nothing. It comes. It keeps coming. Explosions.
War under my skin. Fire and destruction. Rape and pillage and burn. Leave no survivors. Kill everything that draws breath.
There was no one breathing when you got here. You're too late.
There is no fear. No anger. No sadness.
There is nothing. It's all been consumed by flame.
Empty shell. Desolation. Smoldering ruins of what used to be a person. Was there something living in here? What the hell is that? I think it used to be a finger. We'll have to ask the coroner to be sure. Let's get some samples to take back to the lab.

On a side note, I just heard of the worst job in the world. Well, definitely in the top ten. A friend of my science professor works for the UN, and she and other members of a team go to Africa to predict famine death tolls. But the way that they do it is, they measure the circumference of the upper arm, right above the elbow, of children. And if the circumference is below a certain number, the child is going to starve to death within a month. I don't know if I would be able to sit down and enjoy a meal for quite some time after even one child like that, let alone hundreds or thousands of them. Gah.
