It's been about a month since I last addressed this forum regarding the moderation (or lack thereof) of this forum. Since then I was sure I would return to see at least a mild improvement in the content of the forum submissions. While there seems to be a recession of derogatory comments to or about individual women or women in general, I am extremely displeased with the way some of you have retaliated against me personally just because I stood up for my half. The lewd comments made to me that were confined to me were one thing, the way you used my e-mail address to desecrate my inbox is a completely different matter. You are probably familiar with the sort of trashy things people mass-forward in order to make a quick buck at the cost of the moral degradation of society, and though it is hard to believe, some of the things sent to my inbox were more sickening than the comments and images submitted to this forum.
At least one of you have sold my e-mail address to either individual pornography sites or one central business that distributes them. My husband's work friend's son is a database programmer and he told us he is pretty sure he can trace the companies sending us this stuff and their payroll will lead us to whoever sold my e-mail address to them. Taking part in e-mail spamming by either mass-forwarding or selling the addresses themselves is illegal and can carry up to 8 years imprisonment, so whoever did it you had better be aware that you will be caught and possibly imprisoned if you have a record.
Anyway, some of the comments on my previous posts spoke some truth when they mentioned I should not just complain about the bad of this forum but help contribute with the good. Looking back on my previous submissions I noticed that (although constructive) my posts may not have been as entertaining or exciting as they could have possibly been. My husband and I went to see a young black singer/songwriter/guitarist by the name of Eric Bibb a few months ago, and I have since bought his albums off the internet in mp3 format. So for this submission I thought I would include a short poem/song lyrics I wrote about this man:
The sweat drips from your fingertrips,
as you finger pick,
the notes so fine and quick,
callused hands you have not,
you don't scratch the strings,
as you hammer-on,
your hands are strong,
your hair not long,
covered in a panama hat.
I know it isn't Shakespeare but I did take a couple of classes in poetry at my community college, and I am always just throwing around ideas to try to improve. Also, when I was going through my picture folder last week I found something that I thought I had lost, so here it is (better late than never):
PS: Would just like to say that today's front page submissions are almost devoid of sexism and the 'derogatory-term count' appears to be much lower. Keep it up team!
