I have been floating around this website for a lil better than a week. I have read new post, archived post you name it. There are alot of things I could post about to really kick shit up:
- America vs. the world
- Bush vs. America
- Red states vs. blue states
- gay marraige
- women vs. men
You get the point. Theres alot of things that people can argue about, but I am going to post about Religion and faith. Religious discussion , especially Christianity , always brings out the worst in people. So here it is:
My Belief System
I personally believe in intelligent design, I believe that God created everything. Now before I lose you just read a little bit more. Science has proven that the universe is expanding, meaning the big bang theory is sound. My question to an athiest would be "Where did all that matter come from that caused the big bang?" I don't see why it would be such a stretch to think that an intelligent being created all that matter in a supernatural way. Now some of you may be thinking " Yeah but Genesis says God created everything in 6 days whatever." What is a day to an all powerful being who isnt subject to the laws of time and space? A day to God may be millions of years.
Another reason I believe in intelligent design is founded in basic biology. Life does not just appear out of nowhere, life arises from life. I just have a real hard time believing that something as complex as a human being could just accidentally happen. Evolution teaches by chance everything is evolving and becoming more complex. Yet the 2nd law of thermodynamics states that everything goes from organization to chaos. So which is correct the THEORY of evolution or the LAW of thermodynamics? That being said I do think that organisms can evolve to adapt better to their environment, but I do not think that they just accidentally appeared.
Myself nor anyone else can prove the existence of God, conversely no one can prove that our universe was created by thousands of coincidences. When you get right down to it, it takes faith to believe in Evolution or Intelligent Design, I personally choose the latter.
The second part of this post will deal with what supernatural being do I put my faith in. I personally believe in the Christian God. Why you ask? Well before I get started let me just say I do not intend on preaching to anyone or trying to win souls, so I won't get into how I came to believe in Jesus just why.
First of all I am a red state American, so I am sure that my environment had a part to play. Naturally there is a larger Christian influence in my town than say New York. However my belief in Christ was also the result of logical thought, as well as some emotions I will just focus on the logic I used.
Jesus of Nazareth is a historical figure, this is fact acknowledged by Islam, Christianity, the Judaism, and polythiestic Romans of the time. Now Jesus declared himself to be God incarnate right. Well, there can only be a few conclusions one could make about someone who claimed to be God:
1. Jesus was a raving lunatic
2. Jesus was a power hungry evil person
3. Jesus was in fact God on earth
I do not think Jesus was crazy, how could a crazy man get thousands of people to hear him speak, convert sane people from their Jewish or Roman religions. I have dealt with many crazy people in my law enforcement days, and I can say at least for myself its easy to write off the mad ranting of a lunatic. So I honestly do not think that someone crazy enough to say he is God could have been the basis for the largest religion in the history of man.
I do not think Jesus was an evil person, by all accounts Jesus was a poor man who hung out with societies degenerates. This hardly seems like the work of some evil genious. Even Islam acknowledges Jesus as a prophet of God. Not to mention the fact that The Roman govenor who sentenced Jesus to die, could not find any reason to crucify him other than to appease the mob.
That just left me with the third conclusion. Again the point of this post is not to attempt to convert anyone or anything. It is just my way of provoking discussion and giving an argument for intelligent design.

Have a +2 to balance the load, for having substance to back up your statement, and for not being afraid to stand up for what you believe.

What a worthless post. The historical Jesus may not have been an evil man, but Christians sure have fucked up his religion. I say we wipe out Christianity and restart "Jesusism." A faith like he would have wanted.

So one could say inflammatory things to piss someone off
So if I called you a dumbfuck, that would be an inflammatory thing to say to you

Intelligent design is just creationism with a veneer of scientific respectability. It is still bullshit.
The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics argument is fallacious. Anyone with a decent physical education knows the "law" does not prohibit the creation of ever more complex systems.
Arguing from ignorance will get you nowhere.
No -2 because you argued your case, even if those arguments were weak, and sometimes even wrong.
Please don't post about the other topics on your list. They have been done to death, and it's highly unlikely you have anything original to add to the literature.
