So i was thinking the other day (and only writing about it now because i'm bored at work), what is it that makes people so difficult? Why do we resist change? Why is it that some people hate others because of the colour (yes i'm Canadian, there is a 'u' there) of their skin?
Then it dawned on me. All at once. Like when Jesus was interrupted in that brothel by the guy with the hammer and nail. What a shocker that was.
When you are born you are innocent. If something doesn't hurt you, it's ok with you.
So what happens in the in-between to change that?
This is where i say: Blame your parents.
Blame your neighbours. Blame your teachers. Blame anyone you may have heard utter a racial slur in the vicinity of your impressionable ears when you were younger.
However, as with everything else, eventually you have to take responsibility for yourself (though it feels SOOOO good to blame your parents, you gotta get over that). It happens with everything during that whole coming-of-age period in your life where you begin to question everything you've ever been told and taught. If you make it to adulthood with these thoughts in your head then you, and you alone, are the one to blame.
There is no solid answer to the question 'why are we here?' There are a lot of people that believe a lot of different things but no actual proof that one of those answers is any more correct than any other. Based on this my conclusion is very simple:
If it isn't hurting you or interfering with your life in any way, why should you care? Why should you have an opinion?
I'm not gay. Do i really care if other people are? Should it bother me that they want to get married? Whether or not i have an opinion, who am i, or any of you, to tell these people that what they are doing is wrong?
Be good to your fellow man, Karma is real.
If you are good to others it will always come back to you in the end.
Live like you'll die tomorrow.
Blah, blah, blah.
Details.
