Part 17: http://www.ubersite.com/m/62950
His shallow breath sounded a muffled echo from the dirt walls of the tunnel; his shuffling gait kicking up dirt as he walked. He paused briefly as he vomited another pool of blood; the dusty floor eagerly soaking up the dark crimson liquid. He stood in confused silence for a moment, catching his breath as shards of memory darted in and out of his mind. He couldn't concentrate on anything; except his death. He could still feel Aaron's cold fingers on his head. He vomited again as he remembered the sound of his skull cracking. He clutched his head and fell to his knees, throwing up another flurry of dust. He could feel the rough stitches holding the skin of his head together. He slowly traced them around the curve of his skull with his fingers. There was something wrong. His hands moved away from the rifts in his skin; he felt the scales that were growing uniformly across the uninjured parts of his head. Startled, he pulled his hands away to examine them. His hands were scaled as well, bluish green in color; his elongated fingers ending with razor sharp claws. He tore at his shirt sleeves; the off color scales were progressing steadily up his arms.
[What's happening to me?]
He tried to cry out for help but the only sound that came out was a gurgling wail; his throat thick with his own blood refusing to form words. He coughed violently; clutching his mouth closed with his clawed hand, refusing to vomit again. The nausea subsided and he rose to his feet; wavering slightly as he stood.
{[Come to me]} echoed a voice in his head.
He stopped again. He threw an arm out and caught himself on the wall; his legs shaking at the sudden pause in forward motion. He held his breath nervously, listening intently in the dark of the tunnel.
A spike of white hot pain shot through his forehead as the voice came again; his clawed hand shattered the rock it was resting on.
{[Come to me. Now.]}
His twisted body lurched forward painfully.

"Jessica, what the hell were you thinking?" Seamus reprimanded; the others gathering around them. Alex handed her a bottle of water.
"I didn't think that..."
"That's right," He interrupted, "You didn't think."
She took a drink of water and looked down shamefully.
"Seamus," Alex interjected, "You don't have to be so hard on her. None of us, knew what would happen if..."
"None of us were foolish enough to touch them," Seamus interrupted again.
Jessica stood up suddenly and walked away, glaring at the smirk on Sarah's face as she passed.
"Seamus..." Alex continued in a whisper.
"I know Alex," He sighed.
Seamus stood and walked over to where Jessica had sat down.
"Jess, I..." He began.
"I know Seamus," She spat, "It was a stupid thing to do. I don't need you to keep telling me how inadequate or irresponsible my actions are."
"I never said that, I just wish you'd think things through before you act."
Seamus and Jessica sat in uncomfortable silence; the rest of them keeping their distance from the conversation. Jessica looked up at Seamus, as if to say something and he noticed the bright glow from within her forehead milliseconds before she screamed.
Erin and the others ran toward Jessica as she clutched the sides of her head.
"Get him out...Get him out!" She screamed, flames snaking their way around her body.
Seamus jumped backwards as the flames from Jessica grew more intense. The others stopped and shielded their eyes from the heat as Jessica continued screaming. The furniture and walls ignited as she fell to her knees.
"He's in my head. Get him out of my head!"
She was pounding her fists against her temples as she writhed on the floor.
"Fight him Jess, Fight him!" Eirnin pleaded.
The Elementals looked on in shock as she slowly and methodically rose to her knees; flaming tears dripping from her face like napalm. With a final, intense blast of energy, she screamed once more; the flames extinguishing as she hit the ground.
------
"Fu..." Was all Michael managed to say before he flew backwards into the wall of the sparsely furnished motel room. He hit the wall with a crack, fracturing the drywall and knocking him unconscious.
------
Jessica lay twitching in a bed of ash on the floor. Seamus and the others looked at her from a distance, apprehensive about approaching in case she ignited again.
"I'll go," Erin said, breaking the silence, "I have the best chance if she lights up again."
Erin's eyes ignited as she cautiously stepped toward Jessica's now still body; the wooden floor scorched to ash, revealing the concrete foundation beneath. Soot scarred the dark brickwork walls from floor to ceiling in a spherical pattern with Jessica's limp body at the core. She paused as Jessica groaned slightly, then carefully knelt down and placed her hand on Jessica's shoulder. Jessica turned over slowly and looked into Erin's flame wreathed eyes.
"I think he gave up," She smiled weakly.

Aaron and Dara pulled slowly into the entrance of The Lucky 7 Motel.
"Room 12, this is it," Dara said as he pulled up to the building.
"Are you certain they're here?" Aaron asked.
"Yes sir, we would have been here at the same time, if not for the...'accident'. I have no doubt they have arrived already."
"Well, I hope for your sake that you're right. You've made your one mistake of the evening."
Dara looked down at the steering wheel briefly, then pulled the door handle and exited the pickup. He slammed the door and glanced into the bed of the truck; the severed arm of the owner of the truck hung out loosely from underneath the tarp he had used to cover the body. He smiled to himself and pulled the tarp back over the limb. He pulled a cigarette from his pack and lit it with a thought as he approached the door of room 12.
"Michael...Spencer, open up. It's Dara." He called out as he pounded on the door. There was no answer from the other side, and Dara knocked louder as Aaron walked up behind him.
"Trouble, Dara?" He asked menacingly.
"There's no answer," He replied nervously, "Maybe they went to get some food."
Aaron's response was cut short by the voice of Spencer coming from behind them.
"Dara, good to see you made it," He said casually before turning to Aaron, "Sir, it's good to see you. I'm sorry to hear about Marcus."
Aaron shook Spencer's hand.
"I appreciate the sentiment old friend, but Marcus was a fool and let his arrogance destroy him. I will not make that same mistake."
"Of course not sir,"
"So where's Michael?" Dara asked, "No one answered the door."
"He probably fell asleep again," Spencer said disappointedly as he unlocked the door, "I don't know why I..."
Spencer trailed off as he entered the room and saw Michael slumped against the wall; His thinning blonde hair clumped together with dried blood. Spencer raced to his friend and tilted his head up to look at his face. One of his eyes was closed and the other was rolled up in the back of his head. A sliver of his tongue hung loosely out of his mouth as though he had bitten it almost in half. In the center of his forehead, his skin had blistered as though badly burned.
"He has a concussion," Spencer said after a brief assessment, "He'll be unconscious for a while."
"What the hell happened to him?" Dara asked incredulously.
"We won't know until he wakes up," Spencer replied, "Help me get him up on the bed."
Dara and Spencer carefully moved Michael to the bed as Aaron studied the broken plaster where Michael had hit the wall.

Sorry about the delays in getting these out.
I started yet another job and between all my jobs and my son I haven't been getting much sleep and therefore have been seriously unproductive/braindead.
I'm working on it, please be patient.
And again, thanks for reading.

Holy CRAP. Elemental 18?
eightfuckingteen?
I have some reading to do.
Don't be an amalgam. It makes me think of teeth. Although, why my thinking of teeth is a bad thing, I am not sure.
Never mind. Carry on amalgamating.

Maybe if I posted more frequently I wouldn't have this problem.
Yours is not the only one poorly wired, my friend.
Remember, I'm the one writing this; half of it doesn't make sense to me either.

Nice post, dude. Who's this Michael guy and how can he control the stone in Jessie's head? Or did I miss something earlier?
====
Michael is a Watcher, (see below) and Jess picked up one of his stones from the Jar. So the link is between Jess and Him.

Crap,
I forgot to explain who Dara is.
He's the crazy fire Watcher guy that sliced the homeless guy in half in pt 15.5.
lets see,
Eirnin and Jaythen were introduced in the last part...they were the two unknowns that had been running around with Seamus and the others. Spencer and Michael are the guys that AAron asked Dara to get a hold of in part 15.5.
I think that covers all the new folks.
