I'm planning a 63-day-long road trip this summer, and I'm at a loss for gas prices across the countries of North America.
I live in Ontario Canada, and our gas prices are roughly $0.85CDN/litre, which is something like $3.10USD/gallon. But, I feel that this is probably not respective of prices across the whole continent.
I would be very much obliged if ye who read this could put the rought price of gas in your area, and the general local of where you live (even a state would be good).
Thanks,
Tastycat
Also, if anyone in Ontario is trying to sell a passenger or cargo van I'm looking for one.

Oh, and for anyone who is claiming to see gas at anything less then ~1.65 either goes to a gas station that has really old, and therefore cheap (not because it goes bad, but because unleaded gasoline prices have only gone up in the last few years), gas or is simply not turning a profit for whatever reason. No gas station in this country would operate under the profit line because it is really easy to shut the place down and not lose money.
---------------------------------------------------
I get mine at the local Pueblo Reservations here. I am not sure if it works the same with smokes and booze (no taxes) but the gas is cheap as fuck.

One more thing, when I said 20 and 75 cents, I meant that entirely excluding the state of California, which has insanely high gas prices because of taxes, shipping costs, and high demand (aka, lots and lots of people).

Since it sounds like you're making a long trip to many places, you should base your trip off the base averages, and for that we have:
http://www.nymex.com
That's the website for the New York Mercantile Exchange. Check out the price of unleaded gasoline there and you can get an idea of where it's going to be for the next few months since those exchanges usually trade forward (i.e. in April they are already pricing at Summer driving season levels) like everything else. Naturally, those can give you the best estimate on a nationwide scale, barring any disaster that influences oil (which is practically any disaster) or an unexpected jump in production (which would lower the prices a bit). Also you have to factor in that there will be a dealer premium that you have to pay, so since the futures currently stand at:
May 2005: 1.6825
June 2005: 1.7000
July 2005: 1.7097
Aug 2005: 1.6997
..you can expect the actual average prices to be anywhere between 20 and 75 cents above the basic cost of the gasoline, excluding the outliers.
If this hasn't helped you get a specific number for calculation, then that should teach you a lesson: the price of oil is extremely volatile.

American's bitch because gas prices are ridiculous. I started driving less then 8 years ago, back then gas was .89 cents a gallon. Now in the same area it's $2.15 to $2.35 and our minimum wage has gone up only .50 cents in the last 12 years. The cost of living keeps going up, but the paychecks stay the same. Not the continent you had in mind, but just for perspective,
in the Netherlands it's currently sitting at 1.29 euro/liter,
which works out to about $US 6.30 a gallon.
Yes, I'm ready to go home now.

Um, Canada has higher gas prices. About 40% of your gas price goes toward taxes, compared to about 12.5% in the US. So when raw prices go up, pump prices go up even more because of your taxes. Don't put us Americans down because your government imposed high gas taxes that is eating at your wallet.

Oh I know its the government taxing us, most places have stickers on the pumps breaking down the taxation so people dont bitch and complain at the clerks. Its pretty fucking ridiculas never the less.

Gas prices in Edmonton Alberta, home of the largest oil reserves in North America!!!! is .89 cents a liter, or roughly $3.35.
Give me a fucking break. Americans are complaining about 2 bucks a gallon huh? Whoopdee fuckin doo.
But it chokes me up that we're the richest province in Canada and are paying among the highest gas prices.
