Harry sat alone in his study, the crackle of the fire providing the only sound or light in the room. He sat in his comfortable chair, feeling the ebb and flow of his thoughts, wondering whether it was normal for people to think in this manner. He had always been wound pretty tight, but interpersonal skills were not exactly his forte. Whenever something important came up, he didn't know quite how to react, and all too often, this is where he went to try and sort things out.
What was it about himself that caused him to worry so much about others? As long as he could remember, he was always the type to get caught up in the emotions of others, his temper flared while an argument ensued; he got depressed when consoling a friend whose family member had just died. Empathic and caring, he just wanted to see everyone happy, and somehow always seemed the worse for wear. Today's conundrum weighed heavily upon him, a wonderful woman had come into his life recently. Things were very happy between them for the most part, but emotions always ran high, which often caused problems between Harry and his wonderful woman.
She was a different type of woman, wild and daring, always giving of herself for the betterment of society. They had a connection in this way if you can imagine, two people who truly believed that their actions no matter how small could in some way change society for the better. It was the core of their very beings, and they both knew that that was part of why they loved each other so dearly. Her penchant for danger worried him however, they both knew it. Harry found himself doing something quite unnatural. He often worried about her, she had a dangerous job there was a possibility that one day she wouldn't come home. When he was around her he would burry his worry deep within himself, he didn't like it, but it was a matter of showing her that he had faith in her.
She on the other hand, was the exact opposite, she buried all her feelings, for what reasons he didn't know, but prying them out took far more energy then Harry had. Why could she not tell him? What was it that forced her to hide the way she truly felt? Was she hiding things for a reason, or was it just so that he wouldn't worry? It was another night in his dark study and another night with no answers. Harry sipped his Brandy and allowed the darkness to overtake him. Sleep would be his respite, at least from his own thoughts and worry. Hopefully tomorrow would bring a day with less to think about. Hopefully she would come home to him tonight, that was all he really wanted anyway.
