College an exclusive club?
I have been thinking about something people and I think college is a type of cult. I see it all the time out here with the school USC. People from here won't talk to you if you never attended USC. Or else you are not allowed to go to parties unless you go to a college that is worthy like USC. SO if you do not go to UCLA or Cal Berkley or Stanford well you are not respected enough to attend there parties.
Another thing is have you guys seen the difference in money that people who graduated from colleges make compared to someone who went at it alone? Don't you guys hate it when you see some little 22 year old fuck get a job over you because he went to the same college or frat as the owner of the company? Or went to college with his son? It seems like if you don't go to college you are locked out of this like special world where you get to go on road things, have a family type life, and functions to attend. Now don't get me wrong you can do these things on your own. But if you go to college with a strong alumni association then you can do it with more money and more things.
I don't know it just seems like people are getting hired to special clubs for jobs. It's like you must be from a certain school or college to get a job. This is discrimination but it happens all the time. I see it all the time out here in So Cal. If you don't go to a certain college well you will never meet the right people or get that awesome job. It is like a cult or something or like a frat.
Just like with the president's. Did you guys know that president Bush, John Kerry and like 9-10 other presidents are all part of the some Skull and Cross bones Fraternity. It is like a secret window into like a social club of rich people. I don't really know what I was rambling about but I just think if you don't go to a big time school and a great university you are shut out of a world where you will meet the people to make a lot of money and isn't that what we all really want?
And the assholes who won't hang out with someone just because they don't go to that university can kiss my ass. I saw this all the time at the University of Washington. They acted as if you didn't go to there school or to a big time school you were dirt beneath them or some bullshit. Fuck that. Same as the kid's at UCLA or USC. These fucks act as if since you didn't go to a big time college they are better than you. Fuck them... oh shit I act the same way....

And would you hire someone just because they went to the same university over someone who never went to college? Why or why not?

And Yes I would hire someone who went to the same college as me. Got to keep the money in the same pot if you know what I mean... This happens everywhere...

my school's like that too..i love it. the guy who hired me was a grad of wpi, one of our VPs is an alum...and about 5 other people int he com pny other than me also went to tech.
when they ask me if i know nayone who wants a job..i say, yeah, i graduated with 25 best f riends who are all wicked smart. my fraternity.
the system works. if you dont' get into it, its your own fault.

Yeah, it's a common problem. Kids are on a conveyer belt through life. Your at school and your told "do well in your GCSE's so you can go to college and do A-levels" you ask "why?" and they say "because you'll turn into a jobless failiure and no-one will shag you" so you do your GCSE's and go to college. Then you have to do well so you can go to university and get a degree, you don't question it, your on a rail, your in a system and your on your way. So you get to Uni, but there arn't any parents, no-one to tell you what to do and no soloutions to any of your fears, problems, etc...
So you drink, smoke, shove stuff up your nose and genrally don't do any work.

England isn't much better. The real problem is that Graduates currently end up either thrown into crazy bastard corparate management at 23 years old, i.e. they sepend the next 20 years being throw all over the globe and can't put down proper roots, or they end up getting the same job as you or me wondering why the fuck they spent 3 years studying Ancient History. Yet Graduate credentials are required for some of the most simple of jobs. Glorified administrators mostly.
It's going to get worse as well. The government wants 50% of people to have gone through higher education by 2010. Why? What good will come from it?

I agree with you to a certain extent. Its a shame though that the school you go to does not always reflect your level of intelligence, for the same reason's you mentioned.
Oh..and I went to a smaller school that was recognized in the state as being a good school. But then again, I can go anywhere and do what I want to do.

And if you attend Stanford well your just going to be fucking rich. UCLA just like BERKELY JUST like STanford and USC hire their own.
