Since the hot topic lately at Übersite has been "Who/What is the greatest (insert here) of all time?" I've decided to start my own thread - "What is the greatest cartoon series of all time?"
This is a toughie, because there are so many to choose from and from so many different genres.
I will throw a few out there for you:
Transformers - if you were an 80s child like myself, you couldn't have possibly missed this one. Even little girls liked the Transformers. Adults STILL watch the movie today, and the toys made billions in revenue and are now collector's items.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Christ, the year 1990 was defined by TMNT. Two arcade games (which I have emulated on my PC), the movies, all the toys, the Nintendo game, the comic book, and, of course, the cartoon series, first on Saturday mornings, and then syndicated later to the afternoons. We used to get detention in middle school for beating each other up with nunchucks.
The Flinstones - Who can resist Fred and Barney?
Any Warner Brothers cartoon - from Bugs to the Road Runner to Sylvester and Tweety. Classics.
Care Bears - this is for all the females and homosexuals in the crowd.
Inspector Gadget - Go go gadget Übergun! Ha ha ha

The best series, hands down, the the Transformers. I own the movie (which I watched a few days ago) the entire 2nd season, and all of my old toys... including the complete Devestator. That show always has and always will, kick the most ass!

However, you forget "The greatest DVD collection evar."
Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Pure and simple, it rocks the casba all night long and well into the morning.
TF was wicked, but what about Rocket Robin Hood / Spiderman / The Hulk cartoons with the funniest animations evAr?

CLERKS Animated is by far the greatest cartoon series ever though it was only 6 episodes long before it was cancelled for being so extremely offensive( otherwise know as funny).

FUTURAMA, MOTHERFUCKERS!
Family Guy is great, I have all the DVDs, but there are quite a few jokes that just get old, and later in the series they started turning Stewie gay. Didn't like that. Futurama is wicked bad-ASS.

As for anime goes, I liked Gundam Wing the best.

Alot of cartoon taht I loved and I watch now just dissapoint me and I think, "How did I find this entertaining." Transformers is still good.

Family Guy, although not a classic since the 80's has got to be, by far, one of the greatest cartoons ever created. Sure you may think it is another spin-off of Simpsons or Futurama, but it offers so much more in quality. Many-a-time I laughed myself to an upset stomach, then found myself wondering how they could have let that part air on television.

I've said it before and I'll say it again ( Im with you on this one), the Transformers is the baddest fucking cartoon of all time! Growing up in the 80's, if something had to do with the transformers I proabably owned. I had the bed sheets, videos, t-shirts, toys, etc. I now own the Movie on DVD and will soon purchase the Season 1 and Season 2 box sets on DVD. Yeah, yeah, simpsons, family guy, south park all own. But to me, the Transformers have a nostalgia all thier own.
