Back in the days of my carefree youth, when life was all about fun, adventure, and pissing people off, there was no question when it came to how to go about flipping someone off.
1. Position arm in front of body, palm facing toward you.
2. Make a fist with said arm.
3. Extend middle finger of said fist so that it points in an upward direction.
Success.
Alas, it has occurred to me somewhat recently that throughout these 20-some years I have been giving people the finger, my technique may have been flawed. It seems as though there are several people out there who have added a thumb extension to this procedure, as can be witnessed here:

Many explanations for such a discrepancy in technique have come to mind; age, cultural or ethnic diversity, geographic location, changes in current fads & trends, etc. etc. etc.
As Uber is such a demographically diverse cross-section of the world in which we live, I am hereby putting the question out to all of you. Which is the correct/preferred way of non-verbally communicating "FUCK YOU!" to others? Thumb extended or tucked in?

I'll give ya a +1 for the photo of the kid.
But people who stick there thumb out when flipping somebody off are a little silly.
They are just asking for the offended person (or persons) to apply a suitable grappling move
to said thumb and break it off.
It can be quite an effective submission when applied correctly, so friends DON'T STICK OUT YOUR THUMB!!
