Just relating to the Arseholes Football post as it seemed too long a reply for adding to that.
It makes no sense to me why there even are ratings here.
People here seem to rate according to:
Who posted
Where they're from
If it was too EMO
If it had more long words than their ill-educated brain could understand so gave it -2 on the fact that they were too stupid to get it.
etc
Certain people (professorfuckface for one example that I noticed) will just diss everyone and everything because they find it hysterically funny to ruin someone elses attempts at getting their own point across. Other people just paste the Simpsons quotes in, way to go, how intelligent is that?
Get rid of the ratings and just let people type their shit and just let people comment on it.
This is like being in school (over half my life ago now), the popular kids get to pick the football/netball team and the people who aren't so sports inclined are the ones who always get picked last and laughed at. It's rather sad that people still have to behave like this into adulthood.
I do realise the internet is not to be taken seriously, I won't be crying into my pillow at every -2 *sniff* and every Simpsons quote. *howls* I'm just bemused by the people who go out of their way to be total wankers because, 'It's the net and I'm safely behind my monitor so it's ok to treat people like shit cos I'll never meet them'. If you behave in this manner in reality, fine, I hope I never meet you. If you just use the internet as a prop to get at people I am also hoping I'll never meet you as dishonest people are rarely good people.
And, yes, I am fully aware that someone, somewhere, has probably made a similar or identical post but I haven't read it. I do enjoy this site and the stories but also think loads of the entries are totally shit. I'm not here for the ratings. If something really impresses me then I'll chuck a +2 in on occasion but not for any reason than I really liked it.

I'm not going to just keep quiet if I disagree with something, and nobody should. Why dont you just make a fucking effort to post something of quality and youll get rated accordingly. People dont 'rate the poster and not the post' until you are a reputed user here. Check out TimeCop's first post - he made B@W. Badlands. They were rated according to writing ability, not any fucking reputation they may have had. You had a different experience because you are a shitty writer.

You're all so friendly. Of course you don't know who the fuck I am, the same as nobody knew who the fuck you were when you arrived. If you even READ what I said, I said that it was ME who didn't see the need for ratings as the way some of you use your rate-power is done in such a crap manner. I like the site, I like the ratings when they're actually used in some kind of based-on-the-post-not-the-poster manner.

Not every post ends up getting the rating it deserves (like when someone posts a picture of a food item and ends up with a 1.5), but the ratings system is generally good and encourages people to polish their work before submitting it.

the ratings system does help you to find the good stuff- if everyone gives +2 to something it's always good. Bart has taken rating off professorfuckface, so nothing he can do counts. It's character building getting -2s (check out my first post) I guess if people just reviewed it would be just another forum!
